EA Trying to buy Valve it would seem

and when gabe isnt in control ?

= sold to EA !

I don't think so, I think the work culture at Valve would continue without Gabe as the people who are there remain passionate about what they do.

Yeah eventually when all the old guard are gone it could happen but I don't think it would be an immediate decline.

Anyone else got a feeling that Valve are going to unleash Half Life 3 literally as it's finished and take everyone by storm? I mean EA for example would reveal and hype it for about a year, maybe this is a different approach from Valve, they do some out of the norm things and that's why they are so successful afterall.

Still haven't even finished Half Life 1 though.

I am certain I read somewhere an article with a Valve staffer mentioning that such a scenario could be a plausible marketing strategy.

Imagine loading up Steam tonight and "BOOM".. HL2: Ep3 released.

After filling your pants you would be clicking "Add to cart".

at end of day money talks !

say gabe is gone for whatever reason then pressure would be massive to probably sell. its a business at end of day to other people just not to gabe .

as for hl3 who actually cares about this now ?

not like it will use cutting edge or anything. valve are more like make games for the avg comp specs not high end. times been and gone for me to care about hl3 now.

I think I'd have to quickly finish all the Half Life games, and then end up wandering into a Half Life 3 spoiler on the internet shortly before I start 3, happened with tons of games for me. :D

It's the story people want, Half Life is a pretty solid game but there are better, it's one of the few that could easily be an awful game but still be loved for the story, at least that's what I hear. Not finished them yet. :D

It makes me shudder to think what valve would have become with EA at the helm. EA have some great development studio's, no faulting allot of their dev's, but I've become really cynical about the publishing side of their business, and all the suits sitting at the top trying to milk gamers dry.

Gabe newell must never sell Valve to EA!!

The day valve is bought is by EA or other company, steam would be ruined and PC gaming would be heavly affected. EA could easily scrap daily deals 75% etc.You certainly won't be seeing future valve titles like half life made to the same quality if it is ever made :(

It would be similar as to what happened with BF3 compared to BF2 :(

Thank god for that! Guess origin isn't doing to well at all, therefore, "will just try to buy the competition" :p

As long as Gabe newell is alive, we should be safe! :D

EA have ruined a ton of games already, they even made a mess with BF 3 (well DICE was also to blame :p)

If EA did buy Valve / Steam, they would end up trying to sell Plants vs Zombies for £64.99 with half the content removed to sell as DLC.
