new laptop freezes when gaming?

hi all, i've just got an asus n56v and i am very happy with its performance, however in some games after about 15 minutes of gaming the entire system will just freeze and the sound will lock up and i have to restart the laptop.

so far i have only had this in farcry 2 and counter strike source however dirt 3 and just cause 2 work fine.

the specs
i5-3210m
6gb ram
750gb hdd 5400rpm i think
gt630m 2gb

can anyone help me with this as it is a little annoying, could the problem be something running in the background?

First thing to do will be to check this. Download a program that can monitor the temps of the CPU and GPU (coretemp/MSI afterburner/GPU-Z) and see what they're getting to before the crash. You can set them to log to file, so that you can view the temperatures at the time of the crash.
