Guild Wars 2

Definitely - I'm tired of hitting an area and seeing "The seraph control the area" or something similar.

I want to see a hundred of the buggers charging over the hill at us :)

Yup, every area has had whatever faction pushed back. So we never get to see the events where they win and push out.

There's a design shot somewhere showing how events branch out, if they aren't won, and they can go pretty far, like 6-7 event steps.

But these never happen as as soon as 'Warmaster X is rallying Y for a counter attack' kicks in 50 people zerg over and instantly wipe out the 20 or so enemies that the event has spawned.

I want it to really scale up, so if 50 odd people come charging over a hill, have a 100 centaur come piling in, or say 5 champion centaur, 10 veterans, and 50 or so normal ones. Whatever it takes so it isn't a total blitzkrieg. At least give the enemy a chance of winning, or forcing the zerg to pull back and regroup.

I wish they'd make events a little harder as well. I've not done an event yet that hasn't just been creamed by a massive player zerg.

Events need to scale up faster and HARDER. Make us work to push back those centaur.

Only events I have found hard are the "last boss" events on each zone. As opposed to the (generally) too easy events them bosses are insane! Fire Ele in Asura zone, harpy in Kessec Hills I have found impossible to complete :p

I would like the general events to be tougher as most are steamrolled.

Hellllll no! These event chains are brilliant, one of my favourite parts of the game. If you don't want to do it again so soon, then simply go and do something else for the amount of time you want to wait between each.

I was trying to say have more events, more varied or much longer chains but them have them on much longer resets. So essentially there is as much going on (I ******* love dynamic events) but to keep up the theme of "your actions have an impact" you don't do an event then have it reset really quickly after. As I say this is a quibble rather than a OMFG I hate it!!! :p

Just a quick couple of things:

Is it worth me saving my karma points for higher levels?
I'm a nearly level 40 Ranger and have amassed a quite impressive list of materials. What are the best recommended crafts for me? I currently have a limited amount of xp in Hunstman and Leatherworking. The two you would most logiacally choose for a Ranger, right?

Any help and advice on the two points above would be really appreciated.

Thanks

The main thing that is I find freaking annoying is when I click on stuff in my bags to transfer into my bank.... why do items not automatically stack !!!!! its so bloody annoying to have to keep dragging and dropping blueberries to the other blueberries in my bank otherwise it ends up taking two slots instead of one.

Mine have always stacked, are you using the deposit all collectibles option or going to the bank manually and dropping stuff in?

I just double click on the item from my bag while talking to the banker dude. You mean there is a way to auto stack stuff ?! :p noob me then !

Open your inventory, click on the top-right cog wheel and click on the first option in that little menu (deposit collectibles). Automatically adds all the mats to your bank, from anywhere in game (and stacks them).

Well if its collectibles, crafting materials etc..you can send them directly to your bank from anywhere in the game world, dont even need to go to the bank :)

Click the cogwheel on your inventory (in the top right) and theres an option on there to deposit all collectibles, it automatically takes them out of your bags and sends them to your bank. I've been using that.

Also, by charging for waypoints it does the exact opposite of discouraging exploration. It makes people run where they want to go instead of just warping to wherever they want so they actually get to see and explore the world.

This. 100 times this.

This is exactly what I found attractive about the game early on. It isn't anything like other mmo's out there where you can get carried from a to b endlessly.

It's kind of a herald back to the earlier days of mmo gaming where we didnt have mounts of flight paths, but ran. And with a world as beautiful and content filled as this, I found the exploration fun and rewarding.

By the time you don't wish to explore and level anymore, you'll have more than enough funds to easy mode it anywhere.

Awesome game.

The game is certainly attractive, but I'm finding it hard as a casual who can get at most two hours one or two nights a week - I'd love to explore, but I can't really because I don't have time. So I get stuck in the chasing events/heart farming and miss out on the actual game world; which I feel has a lot to offer.

Are you trying to also level as quickly as possible? Just relax, let the others level super fast. You take it nice and slowly and do some exploration.

On another note, if I bought a digital copy of this and downloaded it at work - is there a dedicated backup option a-la steam? Or is it going to be a case of splitting the files up on to separate DVDs?

Just means it'll last you longer, you'll have tons to do and see for a while to come :D

I was mapping Lornars Pass yesterday, and there are some seriously nice views in that area.

Oh, that reminds me of another thing, I wish areas were a bit more closely related to their GW1 counterparts, I want to be able to go somewhere and recognise landmarks from my GW1 days. It's only 250 years later, so there should be stuff still hanging around from before. But going through Lornars Pass and there was nothing that even slightly matches up.

It's a beautiful area, don't get me wrong, but it's not Lornars. Surely there should be some remnants of all the Stone Summit that used to live there? Where has the big Grenth temple gone? The Grawl have all buggered off. There's lakes where there used to be mountains... etc etc.

It's also far too close to LA, and LA is in the wrong place entirely, it's in the middle of Gates of Kryta.

I was hoping for a bit more consistency, revisiting old areas seeing how they'd changed. Not being given entirely new areas that have no relation at all.

Not a game breaker, just a little disappointing.

We did AC last night for the first time. Story mode. I play a warrior. I used a mace and shield with banners.

Certainly different from normal PvE combat in the open world. My talents were not right for defence which maybe was the problem but damage was crazy. 3-4 hits I was down. Seemed very chaotic though with 3 mobs going to different players in the team and not being able to taunt. Spent a lot of time dying although we did complete the instance. Was good fun but also frustrating at times. We tried to make use of the environment to block attacks and using rocks etc. Any tips for other defensive warriors?

The game folder is basically a little .exe file and a 15gb .dat file. Could stick it all on a USB drive probably.

- get rid of loading between zones, it not game breaking as I though it would be but still a little immersion breaking.

I doubt that'll ever happen. Usually such things are engine-bound, so unless they modify or recreate the game engine, loading screens will be part of the game. If they were to perhaps create a 'tunnel' or 'path' between the zones, and have it load while you're moving through that (if you notice most of the zone portals begin and end on either side of a mountain path/city entrance), then that would be an acceptable compromise for me.

World of Warcraft, for example, was able to use progressive loading due to the fact that it's game engine isn't very taxing (a fact that they, and supporters, sell) but with games like GW2, which has far more impressive and taxing engines, it's a little more difficult.

I don't actually mind them so much - the zones are large enough (or more importantly feel large enough) so that I'm not just hitting load screens constantly - compared to let's say, Age of Conan. The placement is important. In AoC, you'd zone and be on the other side of the world, at least here you've passed through to an adjacent area.
