The k2 is a definite no no. As im using one with vengeance low profile and the fan sits right on top of the first ram stick. The Thermalright true spirit looks like a good slim choice. I can remember using a TRUE on my x58 rig, and had no issues using high heatsinked ocz reaper ram in all 6 slots.

Could i not use the K2 and just use slots 2 and 4 or will the heatsink on the ram be in the way of the fan?

On my board, asus p8 z 77 pro. I have my ram in slots 2 and 4. The front fan on the k2 is actually sitting over the ram stick in the 4th slot Id say that with vengeance ram, if you put the front fan in the middle slot of the cooler, and put the 140mm fan on the rear. It would still clash with the heatfin on the ram.

That the K2 deff scrubbed off the list then. The Ram slots on this board do seem very close even with a stock cooler. Shame as its a nice looking cooler.

Which venom are you using?
Does it give good temps?

This one mate,i added another akasa fan on the back to draw the hot air away.

What does your case spec for CPU clearance?

How tall is the Vengeance ram you have? 32mm or 52.5mm?
Could always take the heatsinks off of the 52.5mm Vengeance.

Cooler size comparison
K2 . = . 140x128x158mm 146x154x160mm w/fans (WxDxH looking from front of case)
D14 = . 140x130x160mm 140x158x160mm w/fans
TC14 = 140x134x160mm 140x159x171mm w/fans
SA . = . 147x123x160mm 151x149x160mm w/Fans
SB-E. = 155x105x164mm 170x130x170mm w/fans
Extreme 155x105x164mm 155x130x165mm w/fans Reason it's smaller is 140mm fan vs 150mm fan.

K2, D14 & TC14 are about same except for TC14 140mm fans & 31mm RAM clearance stack up to 171mm (my R2 is 165mm clearance and TC14 fits)

SB-E is widest by 15mm. Even wider with TY-150 fan = 170.

Extreme with TY-143 fans is still 151.5mm

Yep, p8 z77 v pro. Though your system looks a lot tidier than mine. Had a few issues getting the board to recognise my hdd's. But all sorted now, need to cable tidy as i was swapping parts between two rigs for testing. Kinda chucked the build together to get windows installed once id sorted my problem out.

not sure which size vengeance ram it is. its the ones with the big heat fins on the top (not sure if they all have these) by the looks of it its the exact same as spooks. that venom looks a nice cooler also, think i might just go for one of them. Did putting another fan on make a big difference?

Thanks fir help guys.

This is the set i got.

Then i added one of these to the back of the cpu cooler,yes it definitely brought the temps down a bit.

Front fan sucking air on to block then rear fan to blow away from the cooler.

If you look at the my pic you can see the long yellow rubber pins just touching the heatsinks on the ram,they just bend so i could get that stick of ram in slot two.:):)

Finally got my self a cooler

If anyone else out there is wondering this cooler does fit with Corsair Vengeance ram as long as you are only using 2 or 3 sticks as you will loose a ram slot.
