Denim originally was suppose to be for the poor people as it was cheap to make. Now that £200 odd pair just is ridiculous for what is suppose to be cheap clothes for the not so well off.

No, they're right. There's no possible way that those jeans can be worth multiple times more than other good quality jeans. The material is cheap as chips and good brands (generally!) don't use underpaid labour, ok slightly more effort may have gone into the design.
It's just paying a much larger mark-up for the sake of a label.
Ok fine, there's no way those jeans cost multiple times the amount to manufacture as other well made jeans that are nearly £200 less.
You would be getting correctly!
It's the same with cars. I went to see a new e class coupe last week and was appalled at the quality of materials based on the premium price tag just because it's a better name brand than other cheaper cars but with the same quality of materials.
