How Clubbing changed the world

Anything to do with David Guetta i avoid like the plague, he really is the gutter man of cheese, and the most annoying thing is he is raking the coin in big time, who are these plebs who pay to see him is beyond me:eek:

DJ Mag is a pure rag now, the DJ top 100 poll is like looool your kidding me:eek:,thank god i stopped reading that over 10 years ago.

Shayper looks like Guetta lol

I look like Guetta? :D

I probably put more effort into DJing and producing than him though :D

Fair enough on all points :)

Can I link you to a track I made a while back and get your input? I'm strongly considering finding the original .rns file and finishing it properly. I've had feedback from a few people saying I should give it a go, but obviously you have a lot better knowledge of DnB than them :)

It needs mastering and eqing properly, it's a rough draft, I just need to know if it's a sound base with which to work from :)

sorry, just saw this, well if im honest first impressions are that it sounds like a keygen prog from back in the day, not my kind of dnb, I would lose the little ditty looping through it entirely and work on making a heavy bassline that acted as a melody if you know what I mean, short intro, that one should have switched at 43 seconds as already mentioned, cut the beat a bar or more before a drop for emphasis, add other sounds in gradually after a drop so it builds up to the middle breakdown before a 2nd drop, standard formula for most dnb.
Youve got to get a catchy bassline, it carries the tune, never had the patience to make tunes myself, hard to find time to get on my decks even nowadays, got a massive set list growing from the last month.

Wish i was born 15 year earlier, would have loved that scene. Although there is still lots of good raves and events around now. This is the best event i have been to in 2012 so far:

Random bump of this one. I'm clearing out stuff for moving on friday and found an old newspaper of me and my mate snapped on the front cover of the Aberdeen Evening Express at Xmas Glam at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre 29th December 2000. There was a couple of foot of snow, the airport only just opened to allow all the Djs to fly in........onto youtube and theres a video!

I make a couple of appearances in the clip as well :D Magic night that one!

:D Were you there? I'd forgotten he was on that night, but as soon as i saw it, i remember everyone shouting that :D

nah but i was a massive fan of oakenfold 96-02. unfortuanetly (imo) he sold out to the US but in his hey day, he was untouchable, even if he couldn't mix! never saw him live. you were lucky, in 2000 he was spinning some incredible stuff.

94 goa mix, still my all time favourite ;)

got a load of his perfecto stuff on vinyl, Bunkka was the last stuff of his that i bought though.

Found a site where you can listen / download to various mixes so listened to a few from across in the states. Was a bit disappointed that i missed the chance to see him in Vegas last year at his residency though. 27hr flight time, settle in then up at 6am for a tour wouldn't have worked with a night out to see Oakey in between! :o

yeh the goa mix is one of my all time favs, especially disc 1. i had the original cream release version but it got nicked out of my car when they took my cd changer. his 99 essential mix world tour was sublime, especially the mix from havana.

got loads of 90's stuff from him, his galaxy urban soundtracks mixes are good too and i have pretty much all of his US radio show mixes from 00-02 where he plays some great trance but after 2002 and his brief breaks era, it all got way too commercial for me though the essential mix he did this july was good, especially the first hour.

lol, yeah I have heard some dodgy stories about him, dont like that type of music at all or him as a DJ producer,

Also check this out :p

to be honest im sure many do that. i know when saha played the room in hull he was allegedly so coked off his face he just put on a DAT (yes, im that old) and pretended to mix (story from a mate who was a class collector)

its not like djing is anywhere near as hard as it used to be anyway. digital djing is 100x easier than when we used to mix on vinyl without traktor/serato and BPM'd cd decks.

had to laugh at the olympics closing when they got in fatboy slim who was just pretending too... messing with crossfader then suddenly his other tune just comes in completely unmixed.

anyway, i finally got around to watching the end of the program. it was odd with the priorities and ordering but im happy prodigy and E were at the top. without either, IMO, we wouldnt have had such a good time in the 90s.

i miss clubs where people arent all pretentious and everyone was loved up to hell and you didnt see a drop of beer, just vimto and water :)
