Guild Wars 2

Out of the starting area's (for those who have done all 100% in each) which did you find the most fun.

I am currently doing the second area of the humans (i think) and I just cant wait to get out of there its boring me to bit.

Just got about another 20% left to discover!
 
I love MMORPG and everyone is talking about this game!

I played WoW for a months a few years ago and loved it.

I've never played Guild Wars before so can anyone link me to a guide for beginners or explain in short what this game is about/what you do?

Is it similar to WoW? as in create a character, train combat and professions/skills, do quests, fight people in PvP, join a guild etc? :P
 
It's exactly that but refined into a gem of a game.

Combat is a little more dynamic in comparison to WoW's combat but it's not hard to figure it out.

Crafting is quite nice, nothing really different here.

The game spews achievements everywhere if that's your thing, XP is EVERYWHERE and you can be in multiple guilds at once.

Quick summary but by god it's a beautiful game and a fantastic game to explore and see what they've designed.

Few flaws like any game but is it enough to turn myself away? Not at all and I don't think you would be either.

Oh and there is no subscription.

Sounds just like my cup of tea :D, looks very fun, I'll watch a few youtube videos and see what it's like.

What settings you think I could run it with my GTX 460?

And wow no subscription? hmm that's even more tempting! £50 for the game aswell, that's an awesome price.

There is also a lot of PvP, if that's your thing, servers vs server dubbed as world vs world.

There is also "structured" PvP which is similar to WoW's battlegrounds.

8 classes and 5 races and 5 trait trees per class. So, yeah it's incredibly fleshed out and the bosses are MASSIVE. :)

You would get high settings with a 460 more if you don't like post processing, plus your CPU is fine for the job, it's more CPU restricted I feel but others may disagree. :p

I'm not liking the second Sylvari area called Brisban Wildlands, it's got some crappy cave parts and i'm trying to skip as much as possible, level 23 now and ready to move on soon.

To be honest, I'm more interested in the PvP side of things, absolutely loved PvP in WoW (mainly fighting people while questing/hunting people) haha.

That's good to know, I was worried my GPU would be too weak to play this.

Oh and can you do quests/things/PvP (mainly this) with other people, I'm guessing the game is designed to be more enjoyable when playing it with friends/people in-game?

Sorry to compare it to WoW but that's the only MMORPG I've played (not sure if there's a GW2 vs WoW rival). :p

Yup, the game scales automatically to the number of people within events or fighting a monster so (arguablly) the more people the better.

No need to apologise, WoW is big for a reason and is many people's first (and only most of the time) MMO, wasn't my first but I ain't going to go all hipster. :p

I wasn't saying it was, but if you play an engineer for example it feels much more 'instant' when activating abilities and more akin to wow and swotor in 'feel'.
On my ele activating abilities it feel's as I said 'detached' slightly.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm enjoying the game so far.

Ive got a 560 so not much diff to a 460 and I run it with everything at maximum absolutely fine. Game looks stunning.

Same CPU as you too just clocked slightly higher.

Have they fixed the memory leak, then? I've been stuck on low settings for ages as every time I cranked them up to what my rig can handle, the client began using 1.3GB of memory and bombed out after a few minutes.

Have people been doing much SPvP? How are you finding it if you've got some fights in? Only had the time to do one WvW battle but really looking forward to doing the PvP later on.
