Ok, here is what I'm after...

A late night restaurant or place to sit down for a romantic meal. Needs to be a place where we can go very late at night and get a table, something which stays open to the wee small hours would be great. Romantic and classy, if it has a dress code, even better. Not fussed about the expense, so food price isnt particularly important.

There anywhere in Southampton that fits that bill? Or in the region around Southampton even?

EDIT : Oh..and any style of cuisine is fine too.

Ok.

What?

Romantic and classy,

Ok.

e : Are you going to propose to Fluttershy or one of your Bronies? Show us the costume

It sounds like you want a high-end restaurant that stays open till six am in the morning which is so classy it requires a dress code, no expense spared!

Of course.

I haven't been this confused all day.

Thats sort of the thing yeah :D Though 2am would suffice.

Not going to propose no, just the missus is going abroad for a week and I'd like to do something nice for her before she goes :)

To Fluttershy, yes.

e : you spoiled my unfunny joke :/

e2 : Unless your missus is actually another MLP? Confirm/deny?

If I had the foggiest idea what an MLP is I would confirm or deny..I'm going to guess, based on no knowledge at all of what it is, that its probably a deny though :D

I would say go to winchester:

old vine (took the misses here for our first date 4.5 years ago!)
green man (new and very cosy / nice food)
cornor house (new and very cosy / nice food)
hotel du vin (James Martin was the original chef!)
black rat ( Michelin Star!)
chesil rectory (very old nice building)

all very nice (some expensive too!)

after you have eaten go to the black bottle! its like a wine only bar place thats really cool

grand harbour isnt so good - I know people that work there! lol

I'll take a look at those thanks.

Now that does look very nice and romantic, thanks for that one

No worries. ;)

It's an awesome place and the food is fantastic.

When I was there they were working on some tree-house lodges which might be finished now.

That would be a perfect night/weekend.

If that's a bit too expensive (and it is expensive) try the Hotel Terra Vina, also in the New Forrest.

The owner is the world number one sommelier!

The rooms, food and wine are all fantastic.

Zen for Sushi
La Regatta for Spanish
Rasraj for Indian
Elias for Greek

These are not all 'high' budget, but I thoroughly recommend them.

Grand Café is swanky but I haven't eaten there.

You also have
Froggies (La Place Bistro) in the Square
No5 - down past King Alfred (not eaten there, just drank, but it looks nice)

However, bare in mind nowhere in Winchester stays open past 2 at the latest because of the Cathedral / Licensing laws there.

I was going to ask where the corner house is, but googled and found out it's the old Foresters pub after another refurb.
