Soooo... Upgrade GTX480 SLI to GTX660 SLI?

660's, newer, cooler, more power efficient and (probably) faster. Can't really check yet as I doubt there's any SLI reviews of them yet.

I guerss thats a point but the plan was get one 660 now with the proceeds of selling the 480s then get another off the other half at xmas :p

Sell your other half with the 480s and get 2x680s/7970s. I know you won't get your Christmas graphics card gift but that's the point in selling your loved one, also you won't have to buy at Christmas either. I know, you don't even have to say it, I really shine when it comes to help making others decisions :D.

All joking aside, would you consider AMD or is there something keeping you with Nvidia? (PhysX/3D). The jump up for a better single card (GTX 670) as others have suggested puts it up to £299.99, which is a lot more than the 660s you've mentioned and that's when the 7950 seems a decent buy to me as it's just slightly more expensive but has the potential to really shine if you're one of those willing to overclock (If you're not willing then look at the name of this website for a morale boost :p).

He was gonna spend about 360 on SLI 660 anyway, so he could easily afford a decent GTX670 which is the way I would go ! Then sell your 480s for whatever they go for now and put it towards another GTX670 :)
 
Are you really struggling to play anything at 1080p with 480 sli?


If not, hold off till you are and buy the missus something nice, she'll thank you for it I'm sure:D
 
Well you get a significantly lower power consumption and a 26FPS boost in BFBC2 I'd hardly call side grading.
