Guild Wars 2

Where do you live? I want to come around and point and laugh :D

Haha - I'm tempted to post up a video of how much this jump makes me rage, but after the 3 hours or so I spent on it last night I don't think I can face it again until the end of the game at least. In any case, I don't think it's good for my gf to be present for my tirade of butthurt :p

What class should I make for my alt? I can't decide. I've got a Guardian, I want to try a Mesmer, Elementalist, Ranger or Engineer.

I'm leaning more towards the Mesmer or Ranger, but unsure what to go for.

Mesmer for sure, I found Ranger to be a completely dull class to play... a Warrior with a Longbow is much more fun than anything the Ranger has ;(

I'm beginning to wonder if I was missing something with mesmer - I spent more time downed than I did fighting. Literally, about 10x the deaths of any other class.

That's my own experience of Mesmer so far too Sleepery, huge amount of respect for the few high level ones I've seen.

Mesmer is far more challenging than any other class I've played but must admit I find it a ton of fun too!

I think some people have an issue managing clones / phantasms or really understanding what they're about and how they're meant to be managed. They are a huge part of a Mesmer's damage and control - although I do find Mesmer takes a bit of extra awareness and positionin, more so than other ranged classes.

But I find that to be a general problem with people in this game and I'm not sure it's the idiotic default binds of the F1-4 keys scaring them off ever using them or some other factor, but a lot of players just ignoring their class abilities.

I've seen warriors never bother with adrenaline abilities, thieves who never steal, guardians who never use the AoE Aegis/heal (for themselves or if they see a champion about to squish an ally or something) and ofc in this instance mesmers who seem to treat their illusions as some kind of passive to be ignored... in any case they're all seriously gimping themselves beyond belief.

I have only ever played GW2 on one computer then suddenly this morning I had to authorize my log in as apparently it is an unrecognized location. I logged off and have now logged on again and it has asked me to do it again? Surely it isn't unrecognized if I have already logged on from that address today?

Totally agree, although Mesmer does improve slowly as you level, mine is only level 15 but I can see it getting more powerful with each level now, although it's still far more work than my Warrior :p

Yup agree with this, I have the F1/4 tied to my naga 9, 10, 11 & 12 keys, as use them all the time.

I've left them on F1 - F4, but I had plenty of incentive to use them - my main's an Elementalist, and if you don't use the function keys for that you're gimping yourself more than any other class can. Bit tricky getting used to swapping weapons for other classes, though :p

IP changing?

I'm enjoying my Necro condition build a lot, rarely see people going condition like me most seem to stack pets out their behind. But still would like to get stuck into a good Mesmer, may try a Mesmer alt after reading that. Hmmm... Still only 35 on my Necro though :p

I did originally try and build my Thief as condition damage, but two things become apparent. Firstly, my conditions were long, like 10 seconds plus, yet in PvP it is very easy for individuals to wipe conditions from themselves as well as supports to wipe conditions from friendlies, not to mention the combo fields which cleanse. Secondly, you can blow people up very quickly if you just go full on power/precision/critdamage... at 80 in full exotic gear when you start getting towards 100% crit damage bonus your crits just start tearing people apart.

Playing that build myself, it's certainly fun and very effective, just hit 80 on it making it my third level 80 and easily the most fun one so far.

I'm a conditionmancer, there fantastic and can pretty much solo everything.

Problem with me is i'm so bored of this game now. It offers me nothing.

End game PvE is just a massive mats grind fest (200+ gold for full exotic gear), then touching 6 months plus of solid grinding to get a legendary.

No end game PvE content, Orr is just beyond boring, the raid dragons are nothing more then dragins screaming and fearing you, there is no tactics involved, just tank and spank.

Be under no confusion, this game is ALL about the WvWvW. That is there end game content and if you want end game PvE you can forget about it, there is nothing there.
