Best Battlefield 3 AMD Drivers So Far 7xxx Users

Ergh, and I only just updated to 12.8 because I realised I was actually crashing due to the 12.3 drivers and not CPU overclock.

How stable are these?

Will give these a go if I start having problems then :).

I've been waiting for a good set of drivers for my 7950 for months now...

+1

Noticing significant gains on battlefield 3 (multi player)

Something must be wrong on your end i fear. Have you increased the power limit to +20%?

Er nothing wrong at all, Powertune at +20% in both cases.

Has anyone else actually done some comparison tests rather than just saying "performs better"?

I'm interested to see if there actually is a boost on a HD7950 or HD7970.

I have not tested single card or crossfire yet, but Trifire is been improved massively, how it should have been out of the box, but Zero core still does NOT work and IMO never will.

does zerocore not work? works for me. moment windows' monitor sleep activates my afterburner sensors drop to 0, and gpu-z stops reporting. i do know that there has to be nothing moving on-screen, even if monitor is off - ie black screensaver or desktop would be your best bet.

edit: hadn't tried it before actually but it turns out a black screensaver doesn't work... you just have to make sure nothing's moving onscreen before monitor goes to sleep

Tried to test this, but as it is BF3 is telling me I need to install Origin to play, I launched the game via Origin so go figure...

Restart browser and origin normally fixes that.

I wish it was that simple :(

So far tried:
Uninstall/Re-install Origin, to both latest stable and beta.
Different browser
Reinstall plugin
Restart everything (Origin/browser/OS)
Repair everything (Game & Origin)
Checked registry settings

And some other bits and bobs, I give up for now, I shouldn't have to spend 2 hours of my time to get two clients from the same publisher to recognise each other

I refuse to speak to EA's support team either, the most they will tell me is to reinstall absolutely everything and if that doesn't work then it will most blatantly be my set-up that is wrong rather than their buggy as hell client :p

Have you installed origin on the same hard drive as windows is installed?

Nope, its now randomly working however

Edit: will fire up fraps and see what FPS I get on a bench run, 7970 stock clocks 1070/1400

I had a similar problem which i solved by adding origin back to my windows drive. You can change the game folder to another hard drive afterwards if needs be.

I thought I did actually, when I went near a tank I could have sworn a big triangle artefact drifted across the screen, only saw it once though.
Mhm, that's exactly where I get them - usually on vehicles, especially destroyed ones.
I reverted back to 12.8 and the problem is gone. Strange.

Increased my minimum fps by up to 5-10fps. I expect these drivers will go official before long because of the improvements.

Found this driver online on another forum, so credit to the original uploader. (asder00)

Don't forget to install the 12.8 CAP2 after the driver installation is completed.

Are these the 12.9 BETA drivers?
