Before I start, I admit I should have read the Terms and Conditions but here goes.

Last month a booked 7 nights (£300) at an easyHotel but because of change of plans I cancelled the booking. I was charged £10 for the cancellation and I thought I would receive the rest of the £300. Come this month I check my credit card statement and the money has not been refunded.

I contacted them today and it turns out the £290 was credited to my easyHotel account which I can use towards another booking in the future. I was also told there would be no way I can get my money back.

Under this circumstance is there anything I can do to get my money back? I was thinking of making a chargeback with my credit card company but I don't know if that will work.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

A chargeback will "work" but, based on what you've told us, you'll then be in breach of contract so Easyhotel would be able to pursue you for the money. That said, it's highly unlikely that they would.

Get on the phone to your CC customer services. I'm sure a company is not allowed to refund money back to any account other than which it was paid from.

I think the point is he hasn't been refunded and isn't entitled to a refund.

They're keeping the money and the OP now has £290 in his easyHotel "account" to use in the future.

(b) Cancellations or amendments to your booking must be completed before 3pm on the day prior to your original check-in date. You cannot cancel a booking after this time. Any credit arising as a result of an amendment or cancellation will be credited to your Account minus the Charge. If you cancel or amend your booking after 3pm on the day before your original check-in date, you will not receive any credit for the first night of your booking. If your booking was for more than one night, your Account will be credited (in the currency you paid in) for the amount you paid for any subsequent cancelled night(s), minus the Charge.
