I'm not sure which one to use for my main system. I've got both so it doesn't really matter about the price. I just use my system for modding, mapping, video rendering and editing along with some gaming. PCI E slots are taken up by a graphics card and a sound card. Thanks to anyone who can answer :)

Rampage IV extreme if price does not matter. Its a bit overkill but it comes with nearly every option most people could want.

r4e if your an extreme overclocker! p9x79 has little touches like wifi and bluetooth.imho if your not into extreme overclocking your better off with the p9x79(a little bias as ive got one:)),it still has plenty of overclock features.
like you i was torn between the two(price wasnt an issue) and was going r4e right to the last minute but changed my mind and have no regrets, the r4e doesnt do anything the p9x79 cant do! if youve got em both try em both!

My i7 3960x is overclocked at 5GHz constant, what do you think is better for that, P9X79 Deluxe or Rampage IV Extreme? Cooling is water.

What are you using now whats wrong with your current board???

RIVE is the better choice to drain every last bit out of your system, which is??????

I love all these whats best for me threads with no incite what so ever into other components!!!! or what they are using the PC for.

P9X79 Deluxe (i presonally bought me the pro), main reason was that I'm not interested in extreme overclocks and I don't want any active cooling solution with my motherboard due to reliability, noise etc surrounding those mini-fans. Dismissed the Sabertooth for the same reason.

Rampage Extreme because with a 3960X @5ghz you might need to stick a waterblock on the VRM's to prevent thermal throttling, I don't think EK do VRM blocks for the standard boards.

Rampage IV Extreme has most resale value, being the most expensive. A ASRock Extreme 7 is in my computer currently and I'm going to sell that once I'm finished with it. I have got watercooling on my CPU (nearly impossible to get stability at 5GHz on air), but no extreme overclocking such as LN2 and stuff like that. Technically I could run quad SLI on P9X79, just add another 690. hope this helps :)

5ghz is much easier with 1600mhz RAM and slack timings!!!! To be honest with SB-E RAM makes a large difference to clocks around 4.6 - 5.0ghz.

RIVE is still the best option for extreme systems, why not the Formula thats a great board too and can RUN 2 card SLI easy and also clocks RAm very well.

My computer isn't going to be an extreme overclocking/benchmarking computer, I'll think I'll go with the P9X79.

The reason I went with the RIVE was not to run it at a high oc 24/7. I figured that if it is that good at ocing when I run it with a mild oc it would also do that easier and with less stress than most mobos.

For normal use I run mine @4.0ghz 99% of the time.

Its just nice to be able to run it at 5.0ghz now and then for a bit of fun.

I have improved the cooling in my case and fited the second 8/4 power lead on my mobo

Today I had a very good run on 3Dmark11 extreme preset

CPU @5.0
Mem @2400mhz 9-11-11-25 1T
It got me on the hall of fame chart (but only just):D

Thanks for the help with the memory tuning

My memory is @ 2666MHz (stock) 10-12-12-31, obviously processor is at 5GHz, GTX 690 @ 1000MHz constant, 1202MHz boost and 1601Mhz memory. Everything watercooled and no sound card but with external amplifiers. Where do you think that would get me on the list? Of course everything extreme settings.
