I hate dodgy pixels with all my heart, and whenever i come to buy a monitor this bit always make me think twice before ordering. Is it at all possible to buy a monitor that is confirmed to not have a single dodgy pixel ? Ive heard Viewsonic are really good for this (OcUK doesnt stock any of them though ).

What says the forum ?

The short answer is no unless you buy a monitor that's been individually tested to be 100% pixel perfect.

You pretty much have to rely on DSR/RMA (as appropriate).

Monitors with an onsite warranty will make things easier.

Ah, I misunderstood the original question. There are some suppliers of know of that offer the service of checking monitors before shipping. They normally charge a small fee.

Simplest way, use an online dead pixel test and cycle through all the colors and look at the screen to see if you can spot any weird dots not being the colour they should be.

You could also take a photo and zoom in to see the pixel grid and any defects.. but if you can't see it with the naked eye why bother.

FYI none of these guarantees are offering a "100% guarantee no pixels will be dodgy".

The Samsung and Iiyama guarantee covers dead pixels but not bright pixels and doesn't mention sub pixel faults.

The Dell premium panel guarantee covers bright pixels but not dead pixels.

Dell has a retailer who can guarantee perfect pixels with 3 years on site warranty. I would not name it but if you are interested in monitors there are quality reviews on tftcentral. If you check their reviews on Dell monitors you may find how to get perfect pixels :)
