I was just looking at the reviews for this card on OCUK and read this:

This is an excellent card, on paper, and the cooling is wonderful.

Please make sure you update the BIOS to help with stability issues, but be aware that this card currently (August 2012) does not work in x16 PCI-E 3.0 slots and you need to downrate the PCI-E on your mobo BIOS.

Is this true? I'm soon to be purchasing the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H which has PCI Gen 3. Am I going to have problems with this card?

No one else seems to have problems with theirs,
if anything its about the best 670 going at the moment

Excellent allround performance and bang for buck

Perfectly fine on PCI-E 3.0, runs cool, overclocks like a motherf... Couldn't ask for anything better.

Yes, update the bios to add stability (it was a VRAM issue that was sorted) - but who doesn't update bios anyway?

X79 boards *can* have issues with it, but I don't think that's to do with the card I think it's mostly the X79 cpus.

Other than the the WindForce is an ok card.
Can under load it can run a bit hot and the fans are noisy, but if you're not too worried about that then it's fine. I'm also not sure if any other cards are better having only use the Windforce variety of 670s.

Are you having probs with PCI-E 3?

These cards are seriously cool man, mine has never gone above 65 and generally sits at 59 and the fans are barely noticeable for me, when I'm in game I just hear the slight whoosh of air.

I see you're using SLI though - Have you got sufficient cooling etc?

To be honest I've not used the hack to enable PCI-e 3.0.
I've got my motherboard set to run them in PCI-e 2.0 mode (16x, 16x) because if I set them as PCI-e 3.0 I occasionally (say 10% of the time) find that my monitors don't come out of standby.

Well they're in a HAT 932 with a 230mm fan sat right next to them, so I don't think getting air in is a big issue, but I'm wondering if the airflow of the case might not be ideally suited to the cards.

It is rare that my cards go above 70ºC when doign normal gaming, but I've seen it a few times. They, well the top card, often sits in the mid 60s.
I guess maybe I notice it more as the last card I really used day to day was a watercooled 480.

Never had issues like that but to get mine to work PCI-e 3 stable
I had to alter Blk and PCI-e skews to (-2 and-20)respectively,
this was using the Nvidia hack and not the Registry hack.

Might be worth a try.
