I was trawling through my list of accomplishments/things I've wanted to do and I realised Skydiving was still outstanding for this year.

So, I just rolled into work asked if I could have tomorrow off.. aaaaand success! I've booked me a 13,000ft tandem jump with a camera man. Got a few lightweights coming with me as spectators down Northampton.

Gosh I'm excited :D

Anyone done this? Share, share and share!

Can I change my name to Dark Shadow? I hear it will be available as of tomorrow afternoon.

In all seriousness I haven't done it but will be looking to at some point. Have a blast and be sure to update us!

did a 14,000foot tandem jump at sunset in Austrailia. I was bricking it in the plane all the way up, it was that high up i swear i could see the curvature of the earth up there. As soon as we left the plane though and started free falling i loved it. Amazing experience, got to try it once

Not done it but definitely on my list of things to do! Need to get under their weight limits is the only issue :D

Done a few jumps.... (507), highest was over 22k feet for a 100-way formation, lowest was about 2,500 feet.

It's rubbish - don't bother doing it...

:p

I only gave up because I didn't have the time, or money, and I had other priorities. And the weather in this country drove me nuts, and living out of a tent almost every weekend, spending my time at a DZ got dry.

22k is immense!

Just a one off for me I'm afraid, so hopefully I won't have that issue :D

Done a static line and a level 1 freefall jump (i.e not tandem).

Just wish the weather was better in the UK, i'd take it up more seriously then :(

Good luck for your jump tomorrow!

I've only done 2 jumps: one from 12000 feet tandem with cameraman in 2008, and another in march 2011 from 3000 feet static line jump with camerawoman. Very good experiences, but no plans as of yet to do anymore as getting married next month.

Anyway videos and pics from the jumps I will link.

That's the main reason why I stopped.

I spent most of my time travelling abroad to jump - ££££!!!

I also had nearly £15ks worth of equipment. It's not a cheap sport.

I imagine it's very cheap if you like the feeling of playing Russian roulette with terrible odds every time you pull the cord :D

haha! :D

Well that reminds me of a time when I had an opportunity to jump in a DC3 in Perris Valley (California). It's a rather epic plane, and a rare opportunity. I had booked myself a slot. However, I had gone for a jump and hadn't heard they were shifting the DC3 load forward - so I thought would have plenty of time. Did a jump had an awesome landing (a bit showy offy) and was just about to put my feet up when I was told that the DC3 was leaving "like now".

Unfortunately my second parachute wasn't packed (I had 2, so I can jump back to back). So, bear in mind it is 35C, in California, and I've got this epic plane waiting for me... I start packing my kit, as fast as is humanely possible. Now being sweaty, the material of the 'chute was sticking to my arms, so wasn't staying in the bag... every bungee I was using to tie the lines in place, snapped... it wasn't going well. What normally takes 15 minutes (if you're going quickly) or 20+ minutes normally, took me just over 5 minutes! :/

I literally said "**** it" I've got a reserve... :o Somehow managed to get onboard the load, and forgot about the pack job. Jumped out of this incredible plane, and not only did I have the best opening in my life, I also had the biggest sense of trepidation ever.

Still, I'm never going to pack it that quick again... but it just shows - under pressure you make stupid decisions! :D

Did one locally. One of the strongest memories I have.

Got the point of falling out the plane and I wasn't scared. I was so excited I just wanted to getout . Could see from the wash estuary to Thames.. Pretty cool. If I remember it was 30sec free fall.. Might have been a bit more.

By far the worst part was the leaning out of the door and having to fall face first out.. Falling face first is not a natural thing to do! Couple that to jumping out of a plane.. Also not natural lol!

Bottom line.. Do it!

Edt.. I take no responsibility for encouraging you to any potential death you may experience in the events you may undertake from the above statement

I was awful at packing the parachute. Took me ages. Was almost not worth the jumps :)

Nah it was, I did it in Cyprus, can imagine its a pain in the UK with the wind or whatever.

I really really want to do it more often, I'd love to free fall from crazy altitude.

Seen some vids of guys doing all that HALO stuff, must be awesome
