I don't know why there seems to be such an obsession with some people about having China rule the world.
Do they realize they are still a very communist country with a pretty diabolic history with human rights.
Kind of odd as they can't do it without USAF assistance for refueling due to the distance they would have to travel, and over hostile airspace, oh and Irans underground bunkers being so heavily fortified they wouldn't be able to penetrate them.
The closest thing we have is Russian Kirov class ships, massive guided missile destroyers but the size of battleships (some argue that they are in fact battleships due to their size and the transition from shells to missiles being comparable to the transition from cannonballs to shells).

Well if Iran do have a nuke which I suspect they do, theres a good opportunity to bloody the nose of the west with all that gear in one place.

do you fear death?
most people do (or at least premature death - old folks tend to have a lot of thinking time to comes to terms with it)... even suicide bombers who likely have a very strong faith tend to be incredibly nervous - if you're going to make the ultimate sacrifice for what, at the back of your mind, still could end up being a load of old fairy stories/folk law its only human to have some doubts.

at face value this is just an exercise/show of force
if the article is to be believed then Israel is due to strike 'soon' (as they have been for a few years) and we'll need to be positioned for any fall out with regards to closing shipping lanes. A Type 45 is reasonably useful in that respect.
Plenty of nuclear bombs have been detonated under water in the past - its doesn't tend to create giant tidal waves.
What about being air bursted above the water?
If it's all about oil why dont they just invade Canada and Mexico where they get most of their oil from, they are right next door for convenience. Or Nigeria and Venezuela? For the money spent on invading iraq and afghanistan they could have bought $100/barrel oil form the USA for 6 or 7 years.
It's more about a bunch of dual citizens high up in the US government wanting to secure their spiritual home land, and the sycophants who kiss their **** like Hilary Clinton.
