Hi, Not sure what card to get. bit confused. got around £200 to spend on a card but looking at the specs i wonder if i am better getting a 1100 7870 or the 800 7950. they are both very similar prices.

I am a laman so be kind.....

Thanks

Just been playing with my 7950 Windforce to see how high i can clock it @ 1.175v , fans on auto so very very quiet. So far core clock 1100 & memory 1750 , so yep they are overclocking beasts :)

I have had a HIS card some years ago but possibly not a fair comparison to what they supply now.

Gigabyte and MSI seem to get most plaudits possibly due to more people on the forum owning them though (and 3 year warranty helps).

Try the HIS if you want to go that route the reviews seem quite positive.

General rule is get the best card you can afford. The higher up the scale you go the better the card will perform.

But which cards have you been looking at?

The NVIDIA equivalent would be the GTX660ti when it comes to cost.

The better they will perform, yes, the value for the performance you get however has a very sharp drop off when you get to the top tier of performance.

iv got the HIS. Only had it about 4 days and Im pretty pleased with it. does seem pretty quiet. Iv got fan set to auto and iv never seen it go above 55% even with a overclock.
