Cristian Fernandez - Who is being tried as an adult killer

Couldn't see it in the article, but why are they charging him as an adult when he isn't one?

Herp derp america

A sad indictment of America, the richest country in the world, and they can't even get social care in order to prevent this kind of monstrosity.

I don't believe he should be tried as an adult, he's quite clearly a disbturbed kid.

His upbringing is sad, but he still smashed his 2 year old brothers head into a shelf and sexually abused a 5 year old. I don't have any sympathy at that point - you can't let the actions of others detract from the fact he's accused of being a child murderer and child molester.

Tragic nonetheless.

Wow. Just wow.

Ugh, can you imagine what he'd be 4/5 years onwards?
My crystal ball here tells me this is better off.

Obviously we don't know and this is all a sad story from the get go, very complicated, troubled upbringing and turned out for the worse.

I suppose it's a bit like the James Bulger killers that we had over here. What the hell do you do with kids like this really? Certainly being tried as an adult is the incorrect approach, but what is? This kid is probably beyong salvation at this point I'm guessing.

As in the case if the one that was found to have child pornography in his possession not long after he was released, I think it's fair to say locking him away and never letting him out would have been the safest option there.

I personally think its amazing that some people can grow up in appaling poverty and get into trouble with the law when they are young, and indeed even going as far as murdering people, yet can go on to be footballers, tv and film stars or having a career in music.

Yet some people can have all the benefits of wealth and a private education an still end up a ****ed up waste of space at the end of it.

A lot of US states go with "If you commit an adult crime, you get tried and sentenced as an adult". Ironically, the Daily Mail led a campaign for exactly that for the Bulger killers, who had also an abusive (but nowhere near as bad as that) upbringing. Not for the first time, the Mail fails to follow through on its own thinking: you learn your morals from your parents, and if they don't have any, neither will you.

I know it's going to be an unpopular view on here but I am not bothered by the fact he is being treated like an adult in the justice system.

Sure it's not his fault he's so messed up but he's never going to be a useful member of society.
