met the new Mclaren P1 - looks easily as good as the F1 did, and much better the MP4-12C

McLaren, spell it right at least :D It's not a pushchair!

I think it looks a bit 'meh'. Back is interesting, it's got some special spoiler at the back, but front and side profiles look too much 12C. I'm sure it'll be great in the flesh, in a different colour!

For the love of god please Mclaren make this thing horrendously quick and let the driver turn all your gadgets off.

I love the crazy look of it :D

That's what made the F1 such a hit, its crazy looks and it's speed!
They want to make it the best drivers car ever. Not necessarily the fasted, but the quickest.

I think it looks great, side profile is stunning.

No wiper either? I remember watching the designer talking on a Drive interview saying they found a way around the need for wipers

It's going to be damn awesome.

Right...

What could they implement that could clear water in a torrential downpour?

Would need wipers to be road legal me thinks.

" Apparently, water rolls off this material, eliminating the need for windscreen wipers."

Would love to see people drive with a constant stream of water down the windscreen driving at speeds as low as 40mph.

Saw a mclaren mp4 on the m62 the other day. Thought it was a 458 due to the shape of the lights in my rearview/wingmirrors. Only when i pulled onto the sliproad and it passed me did i realise what it was.

New car much more distinctive and better looking but needs a rear spoiler imo.

Looking good. I love super cars that are slightly bonkers!

Is there any more news on the 3rd McLaren model in the pipeline? I think its meant to sit under the 12C. Evo have reported that thee will be 7 McLaren's available, a soft and hard top P1, a soft top, hard top, and GT3 12C, and a soft and had top of this 3rd model.

I got Gtechniq glass seleant on my windscreen and rain washes off from around 25-30 mph. Under that it beads up (just like a waxed car) and you can drive easily like it. So easily that my wipers only come on when I want to use the washers. Admitedly it works soooo much better at high speed though.....honestly officer thats why I was speeding :D

I do like the look of the car though, it obviously features the same design language (I hate using that term) as the mp4-12c but is different enough to stand alone. I do think it looks better though than the 12C, there is more going on with the design, it is more in your face which is good for a supercar :)

I love it but can't help in thinking it borrows very heavily from Lotus' styling cues. I can see 340R on the sides, Elise on the front, their "Hot Wheels" concept car on the rear haunches, Elise GT1 for the overall cockpit shape and aggressiveness, etc...

My point is that if it's raining heavily enough, it is a constant stream on your windscreen which only a wiper at max speed can clear to give you visibility. Something needs to literally throw the water off the windscreen.

In the UK we get monsoon style showers quite often.
