Was thinking about getting a second hand card for my new build, just to keep me going until I've got the cash for my shiny new GTX670.
My girlfriend is dying to play Sims 3, so something that will run that nicely would be a good starting point.
Not sure about budget, I'm hoping to resell before a get my 670.
Cheers.

I'm guessing your off for an I5/I7 build in which case the HD4000 will run sims 3.

reccomended 9500gt - 347points on passmark

HD4000 - 567 points on passmark

No doubt it wont be the best kick ass solution but the onboard IGPU isnt bad on the new intel chips. save the pennies if thats as far as you plan on pushing the gaming short term.

You can probably find a 2nd hand 8800GT for under £30...
I've seen one for £30, will it make a noticeable difference? I had no idea that intergrated graphics were fairly decent.
There's a HD4350 and a HD6450 for around the same price.
Sorry, I don't have a clue about older gpu's, I just thought I might be a cheap idea to give a bit of a boost while I'm waiting for the real thing.

8800GT is around the same speed as the 6670, but lacks dx11 and don't have as much vram and consume more power. If not playing demanding games and racking up the AA level at 1920 res, the 512MB vram shouldn't be much of a problem, and for 1680 res and lower the 8800GT would still do great for the older games even at max settings.

I'd be selling any card I got again within two months I think, so any money I spent would come straight back to the 670 fund.

Yeah, it was a cheeky one.
Just doing it for a laugh. I didn't expect it to be taken seriously.

I was wondering as much, I've been in some forums in the past that wouldn't see things that way, dunno how strict these guys are.
I found this Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart.
Should stop me posting loads of "is this a good buy" type posts.
Currently watching a Inno3D gtx260 and a PNY 9800GTX, but they'll probably shoot up.
Looks like the 8800GT could be my best bet.

The gtx260 shot up in price, but got the 9800gtx for under £30, had just enough in my PayPal. I'm sure I can resell it for a similar price. Almost like renting a card.

Think you are gonna lose may be £5 on sales (you can even probably sell it for the same you paid for), plus 20% of your sales (£25) to the bay and pal. So £10 rent is not bad at all

Word to the wise, theres a couple lists floating around of how good/bad certain cards perform with ts3, it would be well worth taking a quick glance as if you do pick up one of the poorly supported ones your gf will probably slap a nooky ban on you :D
