Hello

Ive been waiting for a while for the LG DM2792D but it seems they have changed the name to TM2792D. I also thought it would be a monitor and tv in one but i cant find anything about it. Here's a pdf file with the new product line up

http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j...oIHoBw&usg=AFQjCNHSkw9NL8Gf3gb5oCLjoqu4edyGag

Can the TM2792D also be used as a monitor? And is it technicly the same panel as the LG IPS277L? If they are the same im gonna order one. They should come up in the stores within the next two weeks.

Well i kinda liked the idea of having a tv tuner in my monitor but if its gonna couse input lag then its a lot less interesting. And as the pdf file states its a HDTV not a monitor. On ebay it shows up as a tv+monitor though...

Dont you think there will be a option to switch between tv and pc mode? To eliminate input lag (disable tv tuner)?

More information on the LG TM2792D here and IPS7 series here. They do not use the same panel as one is a glossy hybrid and the other is a (hopefully low haze) matte pure monitor.

That isn't a distinction you need worry about, but they are both AH-IPS. I have clarified this in the IPS7 article as I know it wasn't mentioned explicitly before.

I've been waiting for the IPS277L for over a month now, would have thought they would be more widely available at this time. You can get the 23" now in the UK but the 27" is mostly imports. Can barely find any decent information on the monitors either, mostly positive user reviews (which doesn't say much) and one bad digitalversus review and one good on hardware.info. The monitor seems awfully cheap in price too, just hoping that's because it's limited to 1080p.

Are these the monitors LG were promoting with a 1.2mm bezel but it turns out it's much bigger? (about 10 times)

The outer bezel or whatever you wish to call it is 1.2mm. But as illustrated in the IPS7 article above there is a much thicker inner component. The total width is around 11mm.

Buying monitors is such a headache for me uh, was deciding between the LG, AOC & Asus IPS7 panel but now Dell are in on it :o. The S2740L looks damn spiffy and the 270 cd/m2 brightness and glossy panel seems like the better buy for the same specifications as the rest.

Ya i know exactly what you mean man. Thats why i choose this nickname :D

Well for me its importend it has a dvi input couse a few weeks ago i owned a IPS277L and i couldnt get a clear picture over hdmi. I spend like 14 hours trying to fix the problem but somehow vga looked way better then hdmi. And when you google about this problem you will get a lot of people with the same problem. Not specific about this monitor but about blurry text, fuzzy screen over hdmi. In some cases there seem to be no solution so im kinda trying to avoid hdmi. If the dell U2713HM didnt had such a backled bleeding and other problems i would have saved up some more money and go for that one but it seems it doesnt really matter if you spend €150 or €600. All screens atm are crap :(

This has been my situation:

>ACD - Perfect. Price? Lol.

Go searching

>Dell Monitors - crappy AG

Go searching

>Korean Monitors - lucky if you'll get a good one or not, not worth the risk

Go searching

>Samsung 970D. PERFE- No VESA mount. Fail.

>New glossy Dell monitors! Yes! Yes! ye- 1080p.

I quit. :p

I should just suck it up, buy a couple of ACDs and wait until OLED/Sony crystal LCD monitors are out. At least apple hardware always end up with nice used sale prices years later.
