Is there any reason these boards have just been reduced so massively ? Have been considering X79 or Z77 system but with them being so cheap has just thrown a spanner in the works.

I dont know if this has changed recently but for the most part I think EVGA x79 boards have a fairly poor reputation as being unstable / unreliable.

Depends what chip you plan to use in the x79, from what I understand the bios is a complete abortion for clocking a 3820. Restricts to a lowest of 106mhz bclk on the 1.25 ratio.

This isnt the case at all. EVGA boards are brilliant clockers and feature rich.

Thy have very little presence in the motherboard market and are buying into it the same as Kingston have done with SSD.

As such, deals dont last long but whilst they are there they are certainly worth considering given the savings made over another brand with similar performance stats.

Oh right, I thought I remembered reading about issues with their X79 series a while ago, must have been thinking of something else. My bad

I got a bit tempted by the x79 SLI, it's pretty cheap! But I want a 3930K on it and that is still 500 euros here in NL

Yeah it's almost always cheaper here in The Netherlands or in Germany then on OCUK that's why I buy almost all stuff over here... But for example the Hazro HZ27WC, a cheap Asus GTX480 I bought from OCUK because you couldn't get a better deal elsewhere. And this deal on the X79 SLI looks pretty good too! Cheapest here is 230 euro...

But do I need it? :p

ps. on the other hand, OCUK give the best service, that is something to keep in mind.

This better than my UD3 for overclocking my 3820? Running geil corsa 4x2gb. Also does this x79 board support crossfire or are Evga also nvidia locked for boards.
