What does 2048mb actually offer over 1024mb?

For a regular single (HD) monitor set up is the extra memory helpful?

The ability to run games at higher settings assuming that the frame rate would otherwise be OK.

Go for 2GB. 1GB isnt enough for 1080p on BF3 and other games. Its a small price difference so go for the 2GB version.

Yes. But it's only going to be beneficial (as I mentioned) if the game would otherwise have decent FPS. If you're getting poor FPS from a lack of GPU horsepower the extra VRAM won't help...

That said, I would get the 2GB version.
