Half Life 3 rumours suggest RPG elements
September 21st, 2012 at 12:52 pm -
In what could be the most surprising and hard to believe rumour to come out of the Half Life 3 speculation mill, French publication Jornaldugamer is suggesting that the next game to feature Gordon Freeman, could be an open world, quest and NPC filled RPG.
Speaking with a “her” that the site claims was “close to Valve”, the site said that HL3 will still be an FPS, but it will take place over a large, sandbox map inspired by the likes of Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Apparently it’s gone through several stages of development, from a traditional linear FPS like we’re used to seeing from Valve, into a puzzle and exploration title, to the current iteration which involves getting quests from NPCs.
Open world? RPG elements? Not likely.
Other details include the vague release date of “after 2013,” and that this will indeed be a full sequel to Half Life 2, not a continuation of the episodic series that appeared in 2006 and 2007.
