I get abuse far worse than that from members of the public on an almost daily basis however they are generally unemployed, police hating career criminals and its like water off a ducks back to me.
He holds a job in a position of trust and authority which is heavily in the public eye. He should be setting an example. I'm sure if a cop had spoken to him in the same manner said cop would be strung up and out a job. He should go.

He's a supposedly intelligent chief minister with a great deal of power and influence. If not because it would be politically expedient not to insult an entire sector of the public service a day after two colleagues were visciously murdered, then because of common sense, he should have known better. Mitchell needs a sense of perspective and to realize how any such outburst will inevitably be played out in the media. Goodness knows what was going through his mind when he lost it, but he has a senior position and should know better. If his judgement is so wrong on an issue as trivial as this, who wants to trust him on something more serious?!
Moreover he should have considered how this would look and acted appropriately.
