Name an adventure game similar to the likes of Zelda etc.

Right, I want to get into a good SP game as I haven't for ages.

My past experiences with single player games are short lived apart from the Zelda series, i've practically completely them all apart from a few on gameboy.

There is just something about them, pretty games, puzzles, combat etc all works superbly.

Are there any games that can come close to them that you would recommend?

Dark Souls is very similar, just much more mature and a lot harder the first time around. Combat is kinda the same too. I'll probably get shot for that comparison but meh.

Just checking out Darksiders, just doesn't look like i'd get into it but I don't know why,

I also loved God of War 1 on ps3, quite similar to darksiders by the looks of it, may just download the first one to see how I get on with it.

Also looking at Alice:Madness Returns.

Darksiders. It reminded me of Twilight Princess, in many ways. More character development, less empty protagonist. Just like TP vs OOT. The combat is less Zelda, and more Devil May Cry, and unlike Zelda it gives you a very set idea how big (..or small) the world is, from the get-go. This tainted the experience a little for me, but it was still a blast and took a good 30~ hours to 100%.

If you dislike Darksiders, for whatever reason, give Kingdoms of Amalur a shot. It's way closer to being a good, PC-gamer-ready Fable 2 than a Zelda game though.

Tbh I can't really think of any modern game like Zelda, my Bastion suggestion was just the vaguest of connections

Darksiders as mentioned above is by far the closest to a Zelda sort of adventure, I completed number 2 and found it extremely enjoyable. Best experience for this game on a PC is to whack the 360 controller in and connect your PC up to your TV.
