Hey guys.

I bought all the parts for my computer, and today decided to build it. I put everything in the way the instructions told me to.

Powered it up and there was a big bang and a nice spark. I can't see any damage to the board, but I want to know what the big bang was, and what I could need to replace. Thanks guys

Could you list the parts especially the psu and graphics cards thanks as people here will be able to smell a bad psu if you bought a bad psu :)

I have the following
Asus maximus v gene mono

I5 3570k

xigmatec dark knight CPU cooler

gskill ares 8gb DDR3 ram

Ocz vertex SSD

OcUK Crusade 850W Quad Rail High Efficiency

Well... Unless you seriously buggered up something while installing, that's another valid reason to not buy budget psu's.

The good news is that since you bought it from here, you should be able to get a decent RMA service. Get on to customer support asap.

I was going to get a better one, but after buying it ocuk was out of stock, and this was the only other option. I will test the PSU, and hope that that is all it is.

where do I stand with making a return with the PSU.

It won't cover the likely damage to the other parts though. Sparks off the motherboard are serious.

Hmm, that's not cool if it proves to be case.

I hope OcUk will do the right thing if it turns out that their own brand psu has fried the rest of the stuff he bought from here.
