Award for worst spelling in an eBay 'arkshen', ever?

We're not all illiterate.

I'll put money on him being from Maltby though, it's about the level of literacy you would find in that area. Years of knuckle-dragging and in-breeding.

I'm also from Rotherham originally (went to a Rotherham comprehensive / sixth form) so I'm allowed to jest :p

And yes - Maltby does seem to be a bit of an un-evolved armpit, even by Rotherham standards.

He was probably one of those kids in school who used to say things like this:

"Why do I have to learn English, when am I ever going to use that in the real world?"

Then the internet came along.

Having now read his feedback he leaves I really think he could actually be dyslexic.

Dyslexians usually spell things on how they sound. Read his posts, yeah the spelling is incorrect but you can understand what he is saying by reading it how it sounds can't you?

Cut the guy some slack I say :) he seems genuine enough to me.

No. Dsylexia isn't an excuse. A lass in my year at school was/is dsylexic. She went on to practice law, a profession that is more pedantic about spelling and grammar than an internet forum.

I know other dsylexics that spell reasonably well too. It takes a bit of effort for them to do it, but they do it.

Spelling, the likes of in that ad are just down to pure laziness, resting on back on the excuse because they can't be bothered.

I get to disguise that fact that I'm from Rotherham as where I live now, whilst still covered by Rotherham council for services etc, has a Sheffield address/area code :)

With auto-correction, texting, slang... it's not really surprising the terrible level of spelling. If the guy/girl has got a condition, can only feel sorry for him/her.

It's surprisingly legible considering there are so many spelling mistakes. The bit where he mentioned 'reseats' did throw me, until I twigged he meant receipts. : )
