Come in to work...all routes back home flooded!

Really, it's been raining in Rotherham for most of the morning.

Well there was a rain before I got into work, but I haven't seen any. However it now appears it has been raining in the last hour or so...nothing bad though, the ground and cars are wet but there are no real puddles to speak of.

Did you take those photos? That's from the Bedale side of the swale, is all.

Can't believe you elected to become a Bedalien. Bleh :p

I think the A19 will still be open, but no doubt they've sent everyone down the A59/A64 from the A1, round the York ring road and up the A19. And it has roadworks on it (Traffic lights) which have half a mile queue on a good day. Brilliant.

Where exactly were your photos taken, if you don't mind me asking? They look like familiar bits of road (2/3rd pictures) but I can't quite place it.

Ouse normally floods a day after rain, but it was looking preeeeetty close to the limit at 8:30am when I drove over it earlier.

They'll be diverting traffic from the A1 onto the A168 to get onto the A19. As you say, would be mad to divert traffic around York

I live in a cul-de-sac on the top of a bank. 15 houses down the road is a river. I'm also on nightshift tonight and I've got 7 hours to think of of route into work. Every road in is flooded or closed.

It's just heavy non stop rain here and has been for about 36 hours now.

Phone the university. Get the number for the king of SU canoe club... ask to borrow a kayak ;D

Took me 2 hours to drive 18 miles this morning because of road closures. Just been speaking to one of our clients and she warned me that its been a nightmare getting through on the way I have to drive home.. Great!

Where about?

I know some of the main roads are clear atm, A1231,A19,A1 are ok. Just a few big puddles around the smaller streets that I've seen, Not been up Durham road etc though. apparently A19 near Seaham has load of traffic.

Christ some of you have had it bad..

Move to Wales.. it either gets soaked up by various mountains or flows down the hill to other people :D None of this flat land !!

Been mental around Bishop Auckland / Darlington area today. As far as I know, that Route 1 picture you took was taken by one of my work colleagues, as our company maintains that section of motorway. We got sent back some videos of the flooding there - you guys have to bear in mind this isn't a big puddle of standing water; it's actually got a really strong current flowing down an entire carriageway from one of the adjacent fields!

Really is quite impressive to see!
