Hi,

Just wanted people's opinion on buying OCUK's B Grade GPUs. I'm assuming they're cards which have been returned. How likely are they to be poor overclockers?

Anything else to bear in mind if I bought one?

Cheers

They should perform the same as a brand new card providing they have just been sent back because the person didn't want it any more. They shouldn't be damaged goods. OCUK wouldn't do that (I hope) does the 14 days still apply to the *B* grade stuff? you could send it back if it doesn't do what you want. I wonder if it then becomes *C* grade? :P

more often than not i would imagine they have issues like coil whine or noisy fans or random crashes people dont send things back for no reason I'd rather buy second hand from the members market

I bought a b grade xfx hd5850 from ocuk a while ago and it worked perfectly, I am still using it now. It was just the bare card and packaging (no cables or accessories) but there was nothing wrong with it. Overclocks just fine as well.

OP, buying B grade there is always a slight risk of running into problems. I was one of the unlucky ones, bought a B grade 7950 a while back that turned out faulty and I posted pretty much the same question that you did before buying and got the same answers. I'd say its rare for it to happen but if you do get unlucky, just RMA it. I returned my card and my money was back in my account in less than a week :) OCUK are really great for that.

Good luck.

Got a few B grade gpu's and they are just bare units no accessories included and they work fine.
Also one of the gpu got faulty after 6 months and Ocuk says warranty is for 90 days after that you need to rma to manufacturer but I RMA it to Ocuk anyway without any problem, also recently pickup a b grade 5450 for £12.49 with free shipping.

I had an EVGA GTX460 SC for a temporary card while awaiting the return of my 7950 and it was a cracking card. (complete with packaging and accessories not oem).

Based on that experience I would purchase B Grade again from Overclockers.

I bought a GTX280 a few years ago. Cooler was dented, looked like it had been dropped. But it worked absolutely fine.

I bought an Asus 280gtx from the B grade section a couple of years ago, it was a manufacturer refurbished card, I got it about 35% less than the original price, it was just the card no accessories, I ran it for about 2 years.
I have also bought 3 motherboards recently off B grade for family and friend builds, I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything off B grade section......... Free delivery (forum member) and 14 day satisfaction, cant go wrong really.

bought a 5450 b-grade, it was just the bare card, and i mean bare! didnt even come with the pci brackets. So just be prepared to send it back!

Got a gigbyte 450 gtx about 6 months ago for 49.99 for a spare while my msi card went back my son has it now and np with it at all cool temps no noise the fans r quiter then my R7870 hawk.

My EVGA GTX 580 was b grade, came in retail box, with free Mafia II game and full warranty from EVGA.

Bought a few motherboards off them B grade and they were all just the board. Never had any problems with them and worked fine.

Quite often good bargains in B grade and lets not forget its still OCUK selling these items along with their good customer service.

Plus there is the smug mode knowing you got a card sometimes upto £100 cheaper.

Do you think they ever price things to reflect the condition they are sending you the b grade item in? For example they will knock more off for a 'card only' than one that is still boxed with accessories.

Do you also get the full manufacturers warranty from the date of purchase?

First computer i ever bought which is being used downstairs for my parents is a B-Grade computer from OcUK, still going fine to this day and i purchased it in 2009.

Contains a GTX 280.
