A mate had one at uni. He would keep rice in it all day so whenever he wanted it, it was there. Same with the timer. Set it, get home from uni and rice is ready. I just boil or go mad and microwave it.

I've never understood the need for a rice cooker  What's so hard about putting some in a pan of boiling water and coming back x minutes later?

1 - the rice is sticky
2 - you can come back an hour later and it's not over done
3 - you can steam other food with it at the same time, saves time and energy
4 - it's convenient because it won't over boil and you can leave it

@ Ironwarrior - Where did you get your glass display cabinets from please, looking for some myself?

Thanks.

It can be used to pressure cook other foods as well. Mainly it's the convenience factor: it frees up a hob, keeps food warm without overcooking it and it has a timer so I can set it to cook stuff ready for when I get home.

[EDIT]Plus what Raymond Lin said :p

The Chinese don't cook rice by boiling it in gallons of water and then put it through a sieve. They put in just enough and cook it in a medium heat on the fire with the lid on. The rice cooker does the same thing without ever over cooking it.

Its hard to argue that method that's been passed down by thousands of generations and use by a billion people.

Cooking rice like pasta although it works but its not the same.

Finally have myself a pair of Levi's 501.

TK Maxx Special, under £40 :D

There has been intense arguing on here in the past about rice cookers. Personally, I don't really see the need as I can cook perfect rice every time but I suppose it's quite convenient. Especially if you can't cook using a pan and water.

Same argument can be had over a grill v toaster. Most people have a grill so why need a toaster.

:( nothing to post in here from me this month. Most of my money went on petrol, restaurants and booze. Feeling somewhat jealous of all the cool stuff in here (bar the phones, they all do the same **** anyways)

First I just ordered the 3DS XL + free game, then I spotted the X Men collection in this thread and had to have it!

Goodbye monies :(

I've never had a nintendo before, but my Game Gear broke a couple of years ago (very very old age!). I just want Zelda, Shinobi, Game Gear Shinobi and maybe Mario games too. Any other recommendations on whats good? How many game gear games are available to buy for it?
