3770K
g.Skill Trident x
h20 kuhler.


Question. I only use this rig for gaming, and managing my ipod and photos. Work is always on either my alienware or work provided laptop.

Should I go 3570k and save myself £100. I believe I wont see any difference in games, and in the future...well who knows where games will go.
 
Yeah you can run 2400mhz on Ivy easy. Dont have a Sabre but with GSKILL TridentX 2600 and 2666 should all be possible.

That's my thought too. Think I'll have to upgrade to prove it to myself! lol.

Some youtube vids show a good 10fps average better, and much better minimums...is that worth the £450 upgrade....obviously in the grand scheme of life probably not.

BF3 caspian border...64 player :-)

Top of the hill (D) looking down the path towards the river/forest.

I get about 72~fps all on Ultra at that point. (utilisation is probably 65% for each GPU there too)

lol. No worries. thanks for the offer though, we have quite a similar rig.

I've had this setup since march 2009...so really feel I want to upgrade. I do the gfx pretty much every 18months...but I'm hoping I can last a bit longer with these 680's
 
if sata3 and usb3 are unimportant id save yourself a bundle of cash and the hassle and stick with the 920,just upgrade your gpu

ib/sb doesnt bring much more to the table than your current setup

What would I upgrade a 680sli setup to? I have suspicions that my CPU is a little limiting in some of the newer maps. If I drop mesh quality down in game my FPS shoots up. If I clock lower, my FPS drops.
Both are CPU related...
 
Made the move from a 4.2ghz clocked 920 to an ib 3570k, had two i7 9** systems so got rid of one to help fund the ib purchase. No difference in gaming at all with the 3570k compared to the 920. Though it does run a fair bit cooler and uses less power.
 
Your CPU is fine! Who cares about max fps? The only thing to worry about is min FPS and your CPU + GPU's are MOAR than powerful enough.

So no "need" what so ever. However "want" is another question.

So I put it to you...Is this thread really a....I am going to buy this, can you guys give me a golden reason so that I can say THAT is why I upgraded, in which case unlucky.

I don't need a new CPU for what I do. My 6 core phenom II @ 4.1 does it all very nicely. I sure want one tho, new shiny things to try to take to breaking point :D
