Galaxy note or note 2?

I currently have an Evo 3d and am looking to change it for either a note or a note 2 when they become available.

what i want to know is the note 2 worth the extra money, say i can get a note for £250 and the note 2 will be around £550.

I know that the note will be getting jelly bean "soon" and the note 2 already has it but will i benefit from the extra spec of the note 2 and do you think jelly bean on the original note will have all the features of the note 2?

what i will be using it for is quite a lot of sketching as i like to keep my artistic juices flowing, this means battery life is important, listening to music most of the day and a casual bit of gaming.

if i get the old note i am willing to root/flash ROMs on it but not if i get a note 2

someone please help me out here is it really worth spending the extra cash?
will i regret buying the cheaper older model?

Have you seen the Original note for £250 and is that new? (I think you can link to a phone retailer)

Cheers

PS at £250 I think I'll go for the Note

The new S-Pen is supposed to be quite an improvement over the outgoing model.

A better Camera, better battery life and faster/smoother software - it's worth the extra if you can afford it.

PersonallY, my mrs has the original Note and for her needs its excellent - she loves the pen feature.

256 vs 1024 pressure sensitivity on new Note2.

Personally I very rarely use the pen/stylus. I'm looking at the big screen phones with a big screen, big battery and faster, more power efficient soc such as either the upcoming motorola razr maxx (with tiny bezel, 3300mAh battery and great build quality compared to plastic), htc large screen 1080p phone if battery life is ok or the rumoured big screen nexus phone.

The note 2 looks like a poor upgrade in comparison imo. I have the note and it's great, but I don't think the note 2 is much of an upgrade ;- fewer pixels (1280x720 rather than 1280x800) albeit with a marginal(2%) screen area increase, probably slightly better quality screen in that the pentile matrix looks nicer.

As kona said, note 2 is worth the extra if money isn't an issue IMO.

better hardware i.e. CPU/GPU and more RAM
better battery life
better camera and audio
better S-pen
better software and will have jellybean

Only disadvantages will be the screen res. (although I don't think there will be a huge difference really) and the design/looks (subjective this)

would the pressure levels make that much of a difference on mobile? like would they be all that noticeable? the pen is supposed to be slightly fatter as well isn't it? making it nicer to hold and it does look to have a lot of pen features but will they comes with the jellybean update on the note?

My friend has a note and i must say the screen on it is amazing, if its anything like that i will be happy tbh.
i would consider consider other phones like the htc thats coming out but tbh i need/want it to have a pen (the htc is the new nexus phone isn't it?)

my main concern is what i could do with the money saved from buying a note 1 instead of a note 2

I have no idea - read some reviews/youtube etc. Then have a play in the shops come Monday :p

i did a bit of research and have just found out that original note has had a xxlrq update which has added touch wiz ux and the note 2 features, and it will also be getting jelly bean soon, this makes me a happy chappy and makes the note 2 seem even less of an upgrade so i am going to go with the original note i think.

As a note 1 owner I'm not really sure the s pen is good enough for sketching. Note taking and point and click is great but I don't think the accuracy is good enough for sketching. Do a little bit of research into how the a pen works to see where the inaccuracy comes in (too complicated for me to explain now). A for whether the note 2 will improve on that, I've no idea

Whats the best deal anyone has found on the note (1),
I'm looking at 300mins, 250 Text and 250mb min.

£21 a month seems the best i can find and but I can also get a Galaxy 3 for the same deal (I think that makes the Galaxy 3 a better deal than the Note?)

Cheers

To be honest after using the Note for a year I will be glad to swap it for a Note 2. The Note 2 improves on the Note in just about every way. The Note had issues with the OS as it was first loaded with Gingerbread and then ICS but both versions where a bit laggy. I am happy that they went for a 720p screen as it helps keep things compatible with the GS3 for apps etc. I want the Note 2 for...

Bigger screen
Jelly Bean
Faster CPU/GPU
2Gb RAM
Improved stylus response as Phonearena showed on their YouTube vid.
Improved speaker
Improved battery

To be honest if it is as good as the specs and videos show then I think Samsung will have made my perfect device as they don't seem to have scrimped on anything! I have a Note 2 on pre order so fingers crossed.

ive got a note at £26 a month with 300 mins unlimited texts and 750mb browsing which i dont this is that bad for £5 more than you have found

probably slightly better quality screen in that the pentile matrix looks nicer.

The Note2 has an RGB subpixel arrangement, not PenTile. Plus the screen is significantly brighter.

The Note2 is better all round, but whether it's worth the extra £300... Only you can say really.

hmm, i need to think a little more then before i choose, i think i shall get the note2 just depends on if budget allows

That's a good deal, need to see how good "3" is on my area...too many choices at the moment, i need to stop pondering and just go for one this weekend...(or maybe give it another week!)

The 3 deal is what i took out on the note 1 but 3 months ago it was £26, still a great deal and more than enough usage on the allowances that ill never run out. the note is fantastic but as others have said the s-pen really isn't that precise for sketching.

when i got my note i didn't make much use of the s-pen so it got rooted and a clean ics rom installed, the phone is so much more snappier and very noticeably faster without the Samsung bloatware installed. waiting to put a jelly bean rom on which should improve things a little more, not that its needed or noticed.

i wouldn't change from this unless i was moving to a completely different phone with the same or larger screen that offered a metal housing with similar dimensions.

hmm what about if i got a wacom pen second hand? i heard some work with the note, i could use that for when i wanted to sketch and the s-pen for general use
