Nah this is my first 24-70. You may have thought back to when I posted my 14-24 and mistaken it for a 24-70?

No, as mentioned in my post, the example was straight out of each camera and saved to JPEG (100% quality).

With no noise processing applied I still find the 5D3 better than the D800.

At the same output size the D800 ISO is practically the same imo.
I compared a 5diii & D800E raw yesterday, and the D800E is actually noticeably better imo.

Edit

ISO 25600, Raw at LR defaults.

5Diii left D800E right

Grain is less course on D800E, and has more detail.
