Guild Wars 2

But aren't they both zones that cover 10 levels? If a level range is 15-25 then I expect to make 10 levels without having to repeat anything (i.e. events) or grind. I've been making 4 or 5 levels in each (what I'm calling) 10 level zone.

I think I'm missing a lot of events as I probably only do around 15-20 (unique) events in each zone (well up to the 15-25 zones, not really got past them yet).
My understanding is that every heart, POI, Vista and quick travel point is placed to lead you to another (set of) event(s). But I'm struggling to find one near every location.

I also really hate events, but realise I have to do them to have any hope of levelling in a zone. To be honest it's not even the events really, it the other players doing them.

Also, why are "Points of Interest" called that? What so interesting at every single POI in the game? To me they seem more like "Exploration Points" as I rarely find anything interesting at them.

I haven't seen anything anywhere to suggest you should level 10 levels in one zone, no matter what level range it shows, so not sure where you've got that one from. Same with the events, many events move over a vast area and certainly aren't limited to a single place. I'd be absolutely amazed if there were enough event sets to cover what you are suggesting. The Volcano on Maelstrom is a very good example of this as it covers about a third of the map and only has one event sequence. To me, Dynamic Events are there in addition to the hearts and can be a very quick, fun way of completing a heart, or in some cases several hearts.

As for the POI's, why shouldn't they be called what they are, can't see anything wrong with it at all, it's exactly what they are, points of interest, doesn't mean they have to be interesting to you.

No, Monkey, people are attacking your opinions because you said there was a lack of content. They said you'd played too much if you'd done everything already; you claimed you hadn't, but then admitted you'd played the game an average of eight hours a day every day since the launch. You're bashing GW2 because you're burnt out, but if you think about it you've extracted huge VFM from the game.

That might be true, however GW2 endgame content is not great. Yeah sure I can go for world completion however it doesn't interest me. Normally I'd go and PvP or do end game raids but in GW2 the sPvP is a little boring and I'm not sure what it is but the instances just seem lame. Theres just not a lot of variety and the queue times for WvWvW are too long.

Don't get me wrong, Guild Wars 2 is awesome for the money, however if this was subscription based, I don't think I would be subscribing. Why? Well other than the leveling the game is just plain boring at level 80. I hope this will change wit hthe next few updates/patches that are supposed to fix a lot of things.

could anyone be so kind as to link a non-glass cannon thief build to me, preferably with the rationale included so i can read it and understand the pros and cons.

im going through guru thief section at the moment but theres a lot to read :(

Just switched from Gunnar's hold to Desolation and wow does it seem empty! Very little going on in general chat in lionsgate or the main human city.

Also could I heck find anyone from immortals about :(

There is players on line in the guild from ..well 24 hours 7 days a week its seems, see our site for officers names.

Tho to be fair till round 6 just before I went off the guild was pretty quiet maybe 12/15 online, but when I got back on for around 2 hours at 9pm there was around 30 online.

Games a bit quieter now as loads run back to wow, for new expansion.

I agree with some of the criticisms some people have. I loved the game up to 80, but now I feel like I've beaten the game. I have full exotics that I crafted rather easily. I have unlocked all my skills. I don't care about cosmetics. There is really no more progression available to me. The draw that other MMOs have of constantly improving your character is not there. I'm also unsure whether abolishing the holy trinity was such a great thing. At least that way you always feel as if you have some value in your group. I usually love dungeon crawls in MMOs but I have no desire to do them in GW2. That said, I think wvw is pretty fun. I will continue playing for that but I don't see any kind of real longevity in it. I've played 150 hours so far so can't complain about value for money, but for me it's just not the next big thing.

They shouldn't have made it so easy to get to 80 then. I didn't get a chance to do the dungeons more than once cos I leveled so fast.

It don't matter how fast you level, your level scales to the dungeons level and loot scales to your current max level.

I don't think the levelling difficulty was to hard, i think it was just right.

In my opinion it was the best levelling experience i have had in a mmo to date.

The leveling system is fantastic. its the best in any mmo i have played imo. the reason why i love it so much is because other mmo's its just a grind to level up. gw2 so far has not been a grind at all

as others have said, its been out for a month. check WOW and pretty much all mmo's end game when they was first released. they had no end game either. these things take time. this is why i do not understand why some rush the game playing it as if its their day job pushing 8 hours every day playing it. each to their own but if you play any mmo including wow for 8 hours a day for a month or two, u will reach max level very quickly.

Why not try an alt?

This wasn't ever meant to be a gear grinding game. Long term GW fans are actually complaining about how much grind / cost it takes to get max stat armor in this game compared to the first. They added a little effort to it to satisfy traditional MMO players who find that there is not enough grind, and GW1 fans find that there is too much grind - you can't satisfy everyone at the same time. When you complete the game on one character, you can either play it again on another or do PVP. In GW1 I only finished the entire game once then carried on doing PVP / Hard mode. In GW2 though dungeons are already like hard mode x10, so I can't see them adding anything similar to GW2.

I can't play it though because it won't work on my internet, and neither will the first game anymore.

Well, let me begin by saying I'm thoroughly enjoying this game so far and have tried to experience aspects of all the bits and pieces that make up the gorgeous world of Tyria - lots of PvE, some PvP, crafting, dungeon runs, random co-op with dynamic events and so on.

So, last night I decided to give PvP and WvWvW and decent bash and as much as I hate to say it, it was a thoroughly unpleasant, infuriating and seemingly pointless experience.

WvWvW is just a bunch of mindless zergs. You can't realistically run around in small groups without having to kite huge groups when they spot you. And apparently no-one else seems to want to move away from the zerg to do anything else. Bashing on a door for 10 minutes is not my idea of fun. Yes, sure you can fire the odd pot shot the enemies way but get caught out even a tiny amount it's a certain death and a trudge aaaallll the way back again from the port which is absolutely miles from where you were. Add to that the constant armour repairing and you have to do it’s a 1. very costly and 2. incredibly frustrating experience.

There’s apparently little or no tactics employed in PvP randoms either. That combined with the stupidly overpowered cookie cutter Thief builds almost everyone runs again makes for a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

I consider myself a reasonably skilled player. I know it’s little comparison but I hit nearly Rank 10 in Guild Wars and those of you that played PvP in that knows it was no mean achievement.

Am I missing something here??

Yeah a decent guild who does things by themselves and does not rely on the zerg for anything but a distraction!

This... Level 80, full exotics and 99% completion... There was just one bugged skill point I needed which I think might've been fixed now, but I just can't be bothered to go and check.

There really needs to be progression in an MMO or it gets stale imo. They're relying on people caring about their server's standing in WvW but I was playing in a small guild on a medium pop server (Whiteside Ridge) and there's not a great deal a group of 5 people can do in WvW unless they fall in with the zerg, which none of us find particularly enjoyable... But what else is there to do? Sure, there's sPvP but I'm a bit bored of the battleground scenario. I don't want to grind the same dungeon over and over again for prettier armour. I don't want to spend the next 6 months farming mats for a prettier weapon.

I want to do open world PvP with a small but organised group, but it's really not feasible to do so and there's no reward for being successful... I just don't see the point in playing any more.

You should cancel your sub :p

Seriously though, I think it needs much bigger WvW areas. It sounded a lot like DaoCs frontiers when it was in development, but each area feels a lot smaller in practice.

I personally feel the maps need to be smaller, as it takes like 10 minutes to walk from spawn point to any sort of action. Puts me off playing any.

Either that or they need to implement mounts of some sort.

Although admittedly I've not played that much.

Yeh Desolation does seem empty, not sure why tbh. Thinking of swtiching to Fissure of Woe as although its ranked medium I heard it has a much higher percentage of people actually playing most of the time.

3 levels from 80 now. trying to get my armour crafting up to 400 and nearly there so that should get me pretty close to max level.
