these patches overhaul the games’ visuals, as they add support for 32-bit color, as well as a single display mode option (meaning no resolution change between menus and game) and mousewheel support for the menus.

In addition, textures can now be automatically promoted to 32-bit, improving quality and effectively eliminating the palette limit.

Those interested can download the Thief 2 patch from here and the System Shock 2 patch from here

Yeah..I was reading about this earlier. Rather awesome news. I've been meaning to replay SS2 for a while and this is a good excuse to go back into it but I may hold off for a little bit and see if anyone does anything interesting in terms of content that takes advantage of the new engine/dromed options.

Wow this looks good, I just got System Shock 2 and was going to play for the very first time. So I think i will be looking in to this. thanks.

Nice, both are great games - SS2 particularly fights for number 1 spot with Planescape Torment.

What has been changed as both have had numerous fan texture mods over the years.

Some of the Thief 2 standalone missions were outstanding.

Sweet cheers for that! Have had Thief 2 installed again for ages since it came out on steam, just not gotten to into it yet... (well again)

Hmm, I'm tempted to give System Shock 2 a whirl. I know I should play it but I find it tough to see past the visuals.

Even without these additions, there are plenty of mods out there that make a decent job out of giving it a clean up. Some of the weapon skins and console textures aren't bad at all. :)

Thief looks certainly better than I remember. Very playable.

EDIT: Just tried System Shock 2 and it's sooooooo gooooood. Still better than half the games in the last 10 years. Brought back some memories of playing it when it came out and being completely gob smacked. Even if you have never played before, you should!

Two really great games. I only discovered these, along with so many other classics, in 2007 when I evolved (;)) from being pretty much an exclusive console gamer. I've been playing them almost yearly since, as dated graphics and such don't bother me at all. Still, obviously very nice to have these improvements and all the more reason I love PC gaming. Thanks!

I've just set up System Shock 2 with all the latest graphics mods and the fan balance patch (ADAOB for those in the know). If you can convince me that you own the game I will happily provide the pre-modded files for you so you don't need to mess around working out how to do it yourself.
