On a popular auction site someone is selling a QED Reference HDMI 5m cable. But the QED website states they do not make a 5m cable.

Why on earth you'd want one I will never know, but I can find several 5m QED reference HDMI cables available all over the place.

I've always thought it made sense to spend a bit extra to get a well built cable but I can't say I've ever come across a cheap thin HDMI cable before so unless you need a specific colour it does seem a waste to spend over the minimum.

I like to spend about 5er and pick ones with different plugs justsso I can easily see what device ends in what cable

Off the record QED are working on a way of testing and proving differences in HDMI cables - obviously not easy but in their interest.

This will cause huge debate now and at the time - however it will be very interesting if they can do it.

It's digital, it either works or it doesn't! So QED are probably just worried that the cable market has declined since the analogue days. Back then you COULD tell the difference between a very cheap and a good cable.

If you get drop out then I class that as "doesn't work". However if you lose one or two bits your not going to notice it on a TV.

So I agree, just get a whatever the cheapest is that fits with what you need. If it doesn't work, take it back.
