Air Asia to start childfree area on plane

I suppose the fact that we have competition will mean Airlines won't be able to use this to increase their profits, the money will hopefully go towards making "kid class" cheaper.

I'm all for this. Nothing worse above the drone of the engines than screaming children.

it upsets many passengers because it's loud and crying naturally instills a certain degree of distress in all of us meaning you can't relax or sleep with someone around crying.

Kids in economy I can just about deal with, but there was a stupidly annoying child in business class on the way back from Japan a few weeks ago. That annoyed me greatly.

Well there's actually nothing stopping kids from going in business or first. Many people don't do it because of the cost (I seem to remember Heather Mills, paul McCartney's ex, going business but sending the kids is economy).

I saw kids in first last xmas. They were about 8 and possibly 10 but very well behaved. It's the babies and <4 years old that are the killer!

Oh yeah, I'm well aware of that, I just don't agree with it (really young/babies that is).

Im ALL for this, kids are the most annoying things on the planet, its difficult to explain to parents as obviously they all think their kids are little angels, when 99.99999999% of the time, they are not.

This. Most kids are irritating little ****heads and parents seem to lose half their IQ points when it comes to their spawns.

I'm totally for child free seating areas and hopefully the odd child free flight.
 
babys cry on plains because when there ears go under pressure it hurts them and they cry.

You cant blame them... i have had some painful Ear popping times in my life

Yes, you can probably tell I have kids. One now and one due any week now. Flying with kids is absolute hell on earth (or, off earth... as the case may be). Trust me when I say - the LAST thing you want to do if you encounter a loud/annoying kid on a flight is make them even more troublesome by causing problems yourself.

It was 4am in the morning, the parents had no intention of trying to keep the kid quite even before the 9 of us expressed our distaste of the situation. Much like I don't want to put up with people smoking in my presence I have no intention of paying thousands of pounds to put up with 1 kid wrecking 9 other people's flights, it's selfish of the parents to cause many paying customers discomfort, and no it wasn't Ill, the child was simply being naughty and acting up.

So unprofessional that one of the directors of (a very large oil company) who was with us has just given us over 1 million pounds of extra work due to the trip, man i suck.

We'll be flying across the Atlantic with our 1.5 year old - in business class - next year. I can't wait to hear the groans when we walk in :D

In all seriousness though, it's hell for us parents. Not only is the child screaming right next to us, but we're acutely aware of all those around us wishing we would just die. Not very pleasant for the kid either - they don't really know what's going on, why their ears hurt, why they can't crawl around, etc.

Tbh, provided the parents are trying to resolve the situation I find most people are understanding of the situation, it's when the parents clearly couldn't care less that people start to get upset.
