Hi Guys,

Some of you might remember i set up a thread a few days back asking about a gaming build for £600.

Well, So far ive got an Antec 300 case, a OCZ 750w PSU and a Gigabyte Z77X -D3H motherboard.

Im buying the cheapest parts first so next up is some RAM and an SSD. Which brings me on to my first question:

What RAM should i get and is it worth getting 16gb instead of 8gb or is that just overkill? I was looking at this:

Thinking thats pretty cheap for 16gb ram, no?

Also, what SSD's are considered the fastest and most reliable these days? Im after a 128gb ideally. The SSD will be my boot drive.

Cheers guys

Jim

Probably not. Im going to be using MineCAD, which is mine modelling software. But nothing more intensive than that really.

How about more SSD suggestions? I hear good things about crucial m4's?

Well if you use that a lot then it might be worth the extra £20 for 16gb of ram, only you can know whether its worth it. Does no harm though!

Yeah Trusty thats my thinking! Seeing as 16gb ram is only £20 extra i may aswell just get that!

Cheers guys ill get looking at the SSD deals!

Next up is a Graphics card! £200 absolute max!

Dont have a monitor yet! Im buying everything from scratch so i think monitor will be last to get. Still undecided on what monitor i want too!

Regarding that MSI card, Thats a lot of money! But i suppose i could stretch to that if i find some money in the meantime. She's coming together slowly but surely

Whats a good monitor these days? Im after 27" ideally.

Cheers guys

Well, 27inch is a bit of problem really, a 1080p 27" monitor is pretty pixelated when up close, well its not that bad but if you've seen a 1440p monitor, it is significantly more pixelated. Problem with a 1440p monitor though is you need a beefy gpu to set it off. I think with your budget, which sounds like it's not thousands then get a 24inch. Have a look in the monitor section, there'll be loads of threads asking about which one to get for certain price ranges.

Off the top of my head, something like this would be decent -

cheaper gou thrown in there as well

What is your budget by the way? also what do you have already...

Right here's my build so far:

- Antec 300 case
- OCZ 750w psu
- gigabyte Z77X - D3H Socket 1155 motherboard
- Old 320gb 7200rpm hard drive from old pc.
- Generic Samsung optical drive

I just ordered:

- OCZ Vertex 4 128gb SSD
- GeIL Black Dragon 16gb DDR3 1600mhz RAM
- 3.5" to 2.5" adaptor for the SSD.

I still need:

- Processor (Intel i5 3750k 3.40ghz)
- Graphics card
- Monitor
- OS

Budget:

However much it takes. Preferably not over £1000 for everything. I'll figure out my total spend so far in the morning

Cheers
