Asus EEPAD Slider SL101. Moisture?

I purchased an Asus EEPAD Slider SL101 for £160 off a nice dude from the MM. All is fine but one thing I noticed when I got it back home is when you press down on the screen it has a rainbow effect and it looks like there is moisture behind the screen.

When I dropped one of my old phones in water, it had the same effect where if I was to apply pressure on the screen it would display a rainbow effect.

Just wondering if this does sound like water damage or could it be normal? Everything appears to be working fine including the screen.

Cheers

Weird! I'm the person Tom bought the slider from. Tom is this a photo of the effect you are actually getting or is this an image from somewhere else that you are using as an example? Does it disappear? Anyway mate as said before if you are not happy with it just return it tomorrow night to me for a refund. I have not witnessed anything like that because it has only been used twice. Wish I could be of more help.

Yeah just took that picture myself mate.

Has it been sat in the box for a long amount of time? Maybe that could be something to do with it?

The thing that strikes me that it's water/moisture because I had the exact same effect on one of my touch screen phones when it was water damaged.

Could also be normal??? Would like some sort of confirmation. :)

Here's a video:

It has been left on a cuboard in the box if that helps. i just googled and found a reply to your question on transformer forums if you haven't seen it:

Welcome, stokietom.

It looks like the glass is flexing and contacting the digitizer.

Stop pushing on it.
I don't quite know what he means by Stoip pushing on it?

Yeah, just got that.

I think he was implying that it's the glass of the display pushing onto the digitizer but in this instance I don't believe it's the case.

Have attached a video for reference now. :)

Cheers

Tbh Tom I have had that on a HP Touchpad and thought it was normal. I notice it disappears when not touched whereby my previous experience with moisture is one in which it does not disappear. maybe some of the other guys on here could confirm their experiences? :)

It's perfectly normal! You are pushing the layers together, they might even stick for a while if you keep doing it.

Just checked my TF300T and it doesn't do that but I suppose each tablet is different?

It totally depends on the construction, the thickness of the screen etc. I had a similar mark on my HTC Flyer which appeared due to pressure I had put on the screen while trying to get the cover off to install an SD card. It disappeared after about an hour.

Honestly mate it has never been in contact with any liquids since it's been in my possession from the day I bought it. I only had it out the box twice. The first time to see that it worked and the second time which was tonight when you turned up to buy it so i could wipe my data.

But these marks appear all over the screen. Basically anywhere where pressure is applied.

If it's not liquid what else could it be?

The only reason I suggested it was liqud was because my old phone that got dropped in water didn't have this effect until after that event.

Yeah just realised the TF300T is different in build. The Slider is similar to the HP Touch Pad. I used to like the way it rippled on touch. Tbh Tom I think you are just working yourself up instead of concentrating on enjoying it :)

They do on the Touchpad. That's why I never pressed too hard. Beautiful screen though.
