Is there much difference between 7950 & 7970?

I have a xfx R7850 core edition right now and while it's good, BF3 frame rate isn't as good, I even have the card overclocked 1100 core, but still only getting maybe 40 to 50 fps. I'm thinking about getting a 7950 or 7970, but the 7970 cards are like £100 more. Is it worth the extra £100 for a 7970?

Thanks

Looking for a good over-clocker and cooling. I don't want to have to buy a cooler like I did with my 7850. Even though the cooler for the 7850 works amazingly well.

Overclock the HD 7850 if you haven't already.

They seem to do pretty well in BF3 when overclocked: How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

my gpu sucks for oc'ing. I can only go to 1100mhz. anything past that and it crashes. Even at 1100 the framerate isn't the greatest. Still better then 860mhz

My mobo is Asus p8z77-m. I only have room for 1 gpu. Which one is the best 7950 at what I'm looking for?

After trying out a 7950 His IceQ(came with GHz bios installed) and an 7970 WF and a MSI 7970OC, imo, there is no visible difference@1080p in the slightest.

The IceQ went back as it was audible@desktop(in my very quiet system), wishing it was quiet@stock now as there is nothing to notice when the clocks increase in the 7950.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III OC V2 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Sleeping Dogs PC Game £239.99
Total : £250.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Or If you want some games then you should look into this one:

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M) with FREE Sleeping Dogs, Nexuiz, Dirt Showdown & CODMW2 PC Games £259.99
Total : £270.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

The IceQ is running GHz clocks(if it's the same as the one I bought here when they arrived) if that makes any difference to you, and afaik, is quieter than the TFIII, which in turn is sitting on a 7970 pcb, but both are good cards.

There is the stock His@£228+delivery as well if your not bothered about cooling/noise.

Thanks tommy, both seem very good. I should have about £270 in the next week or so. So hope one of these is still on the deal? I would need the cooling....so to pay a little extra for a cooler card is worth it.

Thanks again for your input:)
