Anyone know anything about radiators?

Hey all,

We've fitted a new radiator in our bathroom however, it isn't getting hot at all...

We've bled it and water comes out as normal, so we are not sure what's going wrong.

So I was wondering if anyone had any clue on something we may be missing or something we haven't done?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Thanks,

Have you connected it to the right pipe?! I mean, is it on the flow pipe or have you inadvertantly added it to the return, from the last rad in the loop, which would technically be cooler? Just a thought...

It's all connected to the central heating system - is possible to to put it on the wrong way round?

All other rads are working fine

can't really put it on the wqrong way round. most radiator valves are bi-directional. turn all other rads off. does it get warm then?

if it does then your system needs balancing

Is there a shut off valve on the return from the new rad that needs opening perhaps?

Just checked - They're all open :(

That's a good idea! We'll definitely try this...

Make sure both valves are fully open on your towel rail, close all the valves on the other radiators, then put the heating on without the (dhw) hot water....That should clear it :)

There's two nobs on the bottom, turn till the thing gets hot.

We have two of those and its really annoying to try and tell if they are set to hit (without just burning your self)

Yeah I'm really starting to think this might be it :) Going to give it a go tomorrow :) Thanks a lot for all your advice guys :)

It is very possible that its been piped up the wrong way. You have flow and return on heating circuit. If the towel rail is only piped off flow and not return it won't heat up. It will bleed but not heat. Make sure both valves are turned on anti clock wise.
