Finally looking for a gaming PC @800 check these specs please

That's a nice spec. I used the F3 drive as it had a 3 year warranty, you changed to only a year with the Barracuda. You have 3 years on the mobo, CPU and GPU and SSD. PSU is 5 years and RAM will be limited lifetime.......very solid rig indeed :D

One optional extra could be an LED fan. Simply to light the inside so you can see through the window in the dark. I'd argue an LED fan is a better use of money than lighting strips. I linked a bitfenix fan as it's possible to turn the LED on or off with a controller. I reviewed their Hydra Pro LED/fan controller and being able to flick the LEDs on or off is pretty cool.

Again it's not necessary for the build but I thought you might like some ideas of what else you could do with it for gifts and such. Look forward to seeing the build complete, you two will love it :D

Like the idea of turning it on and off possibly a project for the future

It would be nice if they kept a record of commendation. Would be a nice stat to sit under our number of posts lol

Loyal members get free delivery. I won a Bitfenix Hydra Pro to own for a review, Stulid won a Bitfenix XL case on the same deal. We also get Haribo in our deliveries so we dont get treated that badly ;)

Hi Guys, picked up components this morning started to build it (pictures to follow) installed CPU,heatsink, psu, memory, and case connections at what point should I give it a turn on test? Don't really want to fully assemble then find out it wont boot
Thanks

You only need the board/CPU and a single RAM stick to test it, you can connect a screen directly to the board to see if the BIOS loads.

Have you got the 24pin and 8pin ATX plugged into the board?

Use a metal screwdriver to short the two pins that normally the case connects to.

Is the PSU actually ON? and at the wall?

So what have you actually done?

Motherboard, cpu and RAM in a case?

PSU in there?

Does the PSU work? (short the green and a black wire on the 24pin to see if its fan spins).

CPU heatsink fan connected to the cpu fan header?

yeh i mean the 4pin by the cpu, looks like a 6pin in the pic which has me confused, tho im not sure how a 6pin would fit^^

if thats all good maybe try 1 stick ram in DIMM0 and do the pin short way to post
