Would this be a major improvement over my msi tf3 cooler in getting temps down?

Ive got my 7950 clocked to 1150/1650 but it hits max temps of 83 on sleeping dogs, dunno if this is safe and was hoping to get 1200 on my core clock

You need this one due to the recessed gpu core:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Arctic Accelero Xtreme 7970/7950 VGA Cooler £49.99
Total : £54.98 (includes shipping : £4.16).

It will take your core down, but the vrm cooling is nothing short of garbage with the provided vrm heatsinks tbh, but from what Iv'e heard, the TF3 has a vram/vrm cooling plate on it that should be an improvement on the AC's provided vrm heatsinks.

Whether it's worth £55 to get an extra 50-100 MHz should be considered also.

I installed the Arctic Accelero on my xfx R7850 2 weeks ago and it works great. My temps before on idle were 55c and on load 75 to 85c+ With the cooler idle is 28 to 30c and load is 48c.

If your temps are very high you need this cooler. It's worth every penny:)

Hope you have been keeping an eye on vrm temps as it will shorten the life of your gpu dramatically if they are too high.

Been using them since the 5870 Extreme came out, then onto my 6950>70's it went along with another one for CrossFire, It's an outstanding cooler.

Again, the vrm cooling is pathetic on the 79's and as I said, is it worth an extra 50-100MHz?

The coolers main selling point is very quiet noise levels imo, if the core limits been reached on his TF3, it won't make it go much faster at all.

Its not just about been faster, i wanted to keep my card cool and the less noise could be beneficial too, i didn't check my vrm temps ill keep an eye on them.

I havn't really done much extreme gaming except gw2 but max temps on their rarely goes over 72 degrees and for lesser games i just put it back down to stock speeds

Edit: on my heaven benchmark the VRM are around 70-82 degrees

I see them on mine, Try going into msi afterburner and ticking unlock voltage monitoring that could be the reason

Edit: no it doesn't make a difference
