Downgrade back to ios5.1.1

I've finally had it with io6 after I tried to use an app with the new integrated maps only to find there is no zoomed satellite image anywhere near me, making the app totally useless

I have an iPhone 4S, so I take it redsn0w etc is out of the question, so how to I do it?

Did you use tinyumbreller before update?

Grab the relevant IPSW file for 5.1.1, hold ctrl/option and click restore in iTunes, browse to IPSW and continue the restore.

No I didn't, should I have? Will it prevent me from being able to go back?

I read about that, but then some people said that I won't be able to do this with the latest version of iTunes, and that the only way was to jailbreak, but then I have a 4s which isn't compatible with redsn0w?

Just a thought, could I restore my wife's iPhone ios5.1.1 to my phone then update my apps?

Just realised that restoring another iphone will only put data back on to my ios6 based iphone!

Any other options? It's a really poor show not to give people the option of either / or
