I'm contemplating upgrading to a 2560x1440 screen (probably the Asus PB278Q) but I really don't want to sacrifice fps, I currently run a single GTX 670 with 2048MB.

What's my best option in terms of the necessary GPU upgrade? do I buy another 670 and go SLI, or do I sell my existing card and upgrade to a more powerful one?

I've a Corsair TX 650W... following a quick google looks like it should be able to handle it provided I'm not OC'ing.

So, SLi is best bang-for-buck for 2560x1440 then?

I run an Asus 670GTX for BF3 @ 1440p fine (ultra but with MSAA set to 2x)
Try one first - you'll probably find it more than adequate.

If not - buy one at a later stage ;)

I have a single 670 and find its more than enough for most games at 2560x1440.

CS:GO runs at 150~400fps with FXAA enabled and everything else on high
Sleeping dogs runs at 100~150fps with HD textures and everything on high
Borderlands 2 runs at 100~125fps with AO disabled and everything else on high.

I usually reduce AA to 2x or just use FXAA on most games due to the increased res but i've not found anything that runs under 100fps other than BF3 and Crysis when on Ultra settings.

I'm tempted to go SLi but don't really need to.

If you need more FPS you could always use a custom res such as 2560x1080 (21:9), 1920x1440 (4:3) to gain a few more FPS, I actually like playing single player games in 2560x1080 as it feels more cinematic

as above, I've to 1440p and a single 670 runs most things fine... I personally did go to SLI because I was mainly playing BF3 and wanted 4xMSAA, and it should mean I don't get the upgrade itch for quite some time

What FPS do you get in BF3 with SLI out of intrest? I'm really tempted to buy a second card myself but don't think i'll see enough benefit for the cost.
