5D3 dot of dust on focus area

OCD is creeping in:D, new 5D3 arrived yesterday all perfect no issues. However, after taking a few shots a tiny speck of dust or other material has appeared on the focus grid. Same as this: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=42388615

Will mirror up and rocket blower move it? Don't really want to ship it back to HK under warranty. I'm more inclined to pay fixation to clean it.....
 
I have a tiny spec on mine which I believe is also behind the focusing screen. Not sure whether it was there from new, as I only spotted it against a bright background. Immediately after that it really annoyed me as my eye was drawn to it every time I looked through the viewfinder. When I actually next used the camera to shoot, rather than just looking through, I forgot it was even there.

I believe the focus screen is located upwards near the prism, so not really something that is easy to clean yourself.
 
I know my camera is not much compared but my 500d is in a similar situation but with quite a bit of specs and dust. I tried cleaning but made it worse... My OCD was killing me! But I just had to live with it and get on with it, I might buy a new focus screen and swap it out at some point.

If I were you I wouldn't go down the route of sending it back, hong kong is pretty far away!

I don't really notice either, but the OCD is strong on this. Hopefully it will disslodge itself.
 
Ignore it or take it for a clean in the UK I doubt the supplier will take it back under warranty for a dust spec on the focus screen.
 
Mirror up? That won't do squat because you're going to be blowing the sensor not the viewfinder screen!

I had a spec or two on mine and just used a can of air to blast them out. You won't notice them in shots obviously so it's no major bother either way.

if you get it "cleaned" by a store the specs will only come back later on when you change lenses or whatever.

I'd be seriously loath to blast a brand new camera with a can of compressed air just to remove a dust spot from the focus screen it's really not worth the risk
 
Depends on the air can in question (not all of them spit liquid!) and how capable you are with delicate components.
 
I wouldn't bother at all. If it is on the mirror box side of the focus screen it might dislodge itself over time. If it between the focus screen and the focus point screen (which is another layer behind the focus screen) then I definately wouldn't bother.

There is a great likelihood that you will end up placing more dust or more fibres on to the surface. Just learn to live with them, because you are going to get more in time.
