*** The Official FIFA 13 Thread ***

People complaining about the one touch system will have to get used to attacking with midfielders and strikers as it should be. I admit the system isn't perfected yet but I'm glad defenders can't control the ball like Pele everytime they get it.
This.

In real life many defenders bar the likes of Pique, Kompany and so on who are "ball playing defenders" often can mis judge a pass and lose the ball. This is taken into account in Fifa 13. Last year I had a silver team and my defenders would pull balls out of the air the same as my Kompany would and never lose the ball. This year the difference is there.

It takes a bit to get used to but I have played nearly 40 games and have imo learnt it quickly.
I played a team last night and he had Bent upfront and he kept trying these long through balls and Bent would run across and half the time the ball would bounce off him and run through to my keeper. I get the ball and try a long ball and Totti brings it down perfectly and has a shot.

It is good the difference is there rather than Fifa 12 just being mainly about who can get the most 90+ players in their team and just run past all your players.

Bit worried about FIFA 13/FUT 13 as I really didnt like the demo, the added randomness of first touch just reduces the differences between a good player and a bad one as you cant guess when a poor first touch will ruin a move - doesnt make the bad player more likely to score, just more likely to 'defend' better...

Now with a fair few of the regulars complaining I might just stay with FUT 12 and play FIFA 13 as a distraction. To me it definitely seems a step sidewards after playing the demo for many hours.

Its the main reason why my new PS3 is still boxed and FIFA 13 is still sealed, just have no real want to get it opened and played...

I'm finding 13 much better than 12 for UT.

12 was all about pace and nothing else - I agree with above - whilst pace is still a useful asset, Ive found myself taking more time to build up moves, to try and score. I'm finding this 13 (apart from the server issues), pretty decent and an improvement on 12

I didn't enjoy the demo but UT is different/faster.

It's much like last year except you have to control the ball before you sprint off (no more Agbonlahor style pace abuse!!)

i got RVP in a pack but so far been dissapointed quite slow nothing amazing about him i actually find sturidge better would it be worst selling and getting ballotelli as you lot keep going on about him and improving my team in general?

i feel if i sell rvp i won't be able to buy him back :|

also whens the premium JUMBO packs going to be released? the 15 goals 7 shiny pack?

Youve seen my style and its anything but pace abuse, its the passing in the 13 that seems horrid this year, I cant plan ahead if it takes several tocuhes just to get the ball controlled properly and by that time the space that was once open has been covered.

As you said though Im hoping it differs from the demo but some agree with that and some dont. Definitely marmite regards the changes...

People kick the ball faster than the speed of sound when shooting, just like real football.

The ball bounces all over the place, often back to the same attacker, when you tackle, just like real football.

Players, if accidentally travelling faster than walking pace, have the touch of a certain Austrian, just like real football.

Players are often unable to pass 10 meters, just like real football.

Keepers have wrists limper than that of a 14 year old boy who has just discovered the internet, just like real football.

Around 40% of games have a random 90th minute winner goal from nothing, just like real football.

Around 40% of corners result in goals, just like real football.

Wait, what?

40% of corners result in a goal? Huh? I'm seeing much fewer goals from corners this year.

Also, the 90th minute goals, with 2 human players how could the game possibly make it so a 90th minute goal happens. Why would they even develop the game to be like that?

It means you have to build the main focal point of your attack through your very best forwards, like real football.

It means defenders don't have a better touch than Ronaldo, like real football.

It means you can't play a stupidly fast long ball directly at a sprinting player and expect them to control it mid stride every time, like real football.

It means you sometimes need to stop dead to get a good first touch, like real football.

Basically MOST people complaining used to pass it to someone fast, run a step and then power a shot in. The game now makes you think two steps ahead... like real football.
Dont be an idiot and assume everyone that plays FUT12 played a simple style of football...

First touch makes it difficult to construct a decent passing move from what the demo has shown me or attempting anything intricate in the box is pointless...

Thats because you haven't mastered first touch. Much like in 12 where the new defending system had to be 'learned' to reap the benefits. Personally I think it is far better than just holding the right trigger running onto balls and it sticking to your feet while you ghost past defenders.

I find first touch incredibly satisfying. I managed to do a Ronaldinho style flick straight from a pass using the 'first touch' methodology.

First touch is a massive improvement, it's far better and it's only 'random' if your players are knackered or trying to take a silly touch.

But otherwise it's absolutely fantastic and the touches are far better, along with the passing being much improved.

If you aren't getting on with the game and trying play it like most people online played 12 you won't get on at all.

I have played nearly 40 games on UT and about 10 on H2H. I can't say I have ever conceded nor scored in the 90th min and I have scored a few from corners but maybe 1 or 2 after 10 games or so.

ps3, I hated the demo. I was very nearly not going to get the full game until friends at college etc all went out and bought it. I now love the proper game. Feels different to me. Maybe its the longer halves/game time.

You can most certainly score intricate goals inside and outside of the box like Barca do or you can also overhit a pass and lose a goal on a counter attack.

Maybe the way I play means I don't notice any of these flaws or maybe I just have low expectations so I am easily impressed.

Certainly makes doing anything around the edge of the box really difficult - but then in real football moves break down around the edge of the box so often that it feels quite realistic to me.

Usually score most of my goals through eliminating the defenders through one-touch passing (so no time taken to stop and control the ball) which leaves a guy free with the time to stop and control it and shoot properly.

I hate first touch, I can't seem to get my head around it, but holding L1 when receiving the ball seems to help massively with it and my players are actually capable of holding the ball up.

Where i struggle is build up play, but like said above, I guess it is more like real life football, in that it takes an age to make a decent attack.

What I do find amusing is that people seemed to moan (from memory) about the arcadeness of past Fifa games, and it seems like FUT is taking it back that way but no-one is complaining about it and everyone loves it because you can smash goals in left right and centre, but if FUT wasn't around and Fifa was in this style would people hate the game and call it a massive backward step?

Actually think you would enjoy this once you adapt... all about patience in the build up this year
