Returning mobile phones

Damn. I forgot that every person and business abides by the law. I must have dreamt up the idea of courts and all my personal experiences and those of others.

Where did I say that? I'm saying that they have to legally.

It was differentiating between a SIM free handset and one bought along with a contract.

You're talking about build materials, it's very different to build quality.

So if I make a phone housing out of cardboard but put it together REAL well it'll be acceptable? Or are you inferring that iPhones are assembled by some blind chinese child with parkinsons? I don't understand your point...

What is there not to understand?

How well something is assembled = build quality.

The "quality"/cost of materials = material quality.

A phone made out of plastic doesn't indicate poor build quality, and a phone made out of glass and metal doesn't indicate good build quality, because build quality isn't about the materials used.

I have no idea how you've came to the whole blind chinese child thing.

Indeed.

All the S3's I've seen have been very well put together, no creaks flexing or other QC issues and they feel very solid; the materials are quite suitable. The back cover is very flimsy but when it's on the phone no worries at all. My previous HTC's and Nokia's have been made from cheaper plastic and fit together poorly.
A metal and glass iPhone may be more pleasing but it's easier when you make the device less serviceable and don't have a memory card or replaceable battery; and those with glass housings shouldn't throw stones.

This is what I hate about mobile phone owners, not one of them has the capability of being objective.

Anyway, to put it into your terms

iPhone 4S = great design, great materials, great build quality
Galaxy S 3 = poor design, crap materials, great build quality

Hmm, I don't think objective means what you think it means.

It's not really "my terms" either.

Objective: Uninfluenced by emotions or personal prejudices.

A stereotypical mobile phone owner who is blinded to the reality of the build quality of his phone purely because he owns one, most commonly seen in iPhone owners but has unfortunately spread to Android handset owners.

Is this the real world where legally all retailers have to abide by the SOGA?

You know how vague the SOGA is and how often huge and small retailers completely ignore it?

This is well off topic anyway but I'd want to have a good idea that I wanted something and have their terms state clearly that the goods need original packaging but not that it needs to be sealed, there's a grey area in the DSR about that (I just read through them).

And how exactly does any of that relate to what I said, or validate your incorrect use of "build quality"?

Build quality covers both materials used and how well it's put together, arguing semantics doesn't change that and Apple aren't perfect but calling them out on their build and material quality in comparison to a Galaxy S3 is plain retarded.

DSR can be returned when opened and used! Why do so many people not know there rights.

The whole idea behind the DSR lesiglation is that when you buy online you cannot look at or try the product before you buy.

So you are entitled to open the packaging and test the usage and still have the right to return for a full refund. Only cost you have is the return shipping.

Thank you. I may order one over the next few days and have a play around with it. It's a shame that the HTC phones have the silly stick out camera as I really like sense. Then again, I'm not tried the Samsung version.

Yeah I know, but it's not as bad.

I may order the S3 online, seem to be able to get a 16GB version for £375 ish. Anyone know of any other sites I may be able to get it? I hope this isn't breaking the rules, considering OcUK don't stock phones.
